funkejay 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 I've been away for a while - been too busy working - and now when I come back to our beloved little forum I am greeted by this "warn" meter on the sidebar.... what the hell is that???? Am I supposed to be alarmed if it is raised to Orange Alert? Oe is it - as I suspect - yet another attempt at intimidating people into self-censorship? What is it about free speech that you people find so absolutely terrifying that you feel the need to resort to such draconian and entirely undemocratic devices? I suggest you look into a little thing called the "chilling-effect"........

ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 Here's a link to a pervious thread. http://www.totalf1.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4753 Basically warn level is to warn you when you are out of line in the forum (swearing etc). If the warn level gets to 100% then you get banned for a certain amount of time.

Why are we not allowed to discuss warn levels Shuan? Oe is it - as I suspect - yet another attempt at intimidating people into self-censorship? I suggest you look into a little thing called the "chilling-effect"........ That is precisely what it is Jay and it has been quite effective on the junior members and even some of the senior members. Some posters of course, like myself, are immune to terror tactics. Sato tried to intimidate me a few weeks ago but it was counter-productive to his aim. The 'Warn' level system has always been in place and activated on this board. Each members warn level was made visible to the individual at the request of some members. Topic closed.
