Bungled Pit-Stop Ends JV's Bid For Points

The loss of a possible points-paying finish was the heavy price Jacques paid at Sunday's San Marino GP for a slow first pit-stop and an underperforming BMW-Sauber.

Although the former World Champ had run in the top eight at times during the 62-lap race, his chances of finishing in the points were destroyed in his first pit stop when his mechanics struggled to change one of his tyres.

However, the BMW-Sauber drivers admits that wasn't his only problem during Sunday's race.

"It was not that exciting because I had a problem in the first pit stop," Jacques explained, before admitting that BMW also "were not as competitive as we expected."

"However, the balance was good and with this we should have been able to do some quick laps. The start was bad but then the first corner was okay.

"For the next race we have a new engine and that should help a lot, which is important as we are racing in Germany."

Team boss Mario Theissen was equally disappointed and explained the problem with JV's first stop.

"During Jacques' first pit stop there was a problem when two wheel nuts got stuck, but even without this problem he would not have made it into the points."

However, he added: "On the positive side for the first time this season our engines have completed two full race distances at the same time, so they have passed this test successfully."

My opinion JV weekend was runed at saturday qualy when he was doing a great lap if i'm not mistaken he has finished P5 , and cos of heidfeld accident the yellow flags came out , then from that on it was clear that we gonna had a difficult weekend ,

but still in the race he managed to get in some moments P6 ok others were just in for their respective pit stops , but i think he could manage a point finish result , but any way

he's there at least.....

A pretty Sh#tty race for the team. Goodness knows what JV could have done had quali worked out for him, but that's the way it goes. Not sure if he could have scored points as even if you give him 15 seconds back, he would only have been in P10. Still, he had a pretty good race in comparison to Nick, with a fastest lap .5 faster, so it's not all bad for us.
