Button 2005 Williams driver?

Recommended Posts

:)

According to Button's manager he has had talks with Frank Williams regarding Jenson Button for 2005. Although Frank Williams regards Button at the top of his list, he has commented that if there were any talks with his manager he would not admitt it.

Why not?

one rule that seems to be in F1 is don't talk until its final.

i'd love to see a webber - button combo at williams in 2005. they'd have a serious go at the WDC and WCC

button/webber would be nice, but fisi/webber would be even better!

button is in a sense number 1 at bar.

Apparently now Williams said that Button,Webber and Fisi have a chance to go to Williams 2005 or maybe even Pizzonia.

They are only looking for 1 driver for 2005 because the talks with Ralph will carry on after the middle of this season. In other words if Ralph by July is doing well then they will extend his contract and pay him what he wants, if not then they will let him go.

It is funny how F1 team owners treat drivers as stock, but I suppose this is the way it works.:roll:

Bias rules here, I reckon a JB/JV combo would be what Williams needs. They could both prove themselves in very good cars and the debate over how good they were when they were together at BARf last could be laid to rest. They worked very well together after their spat and it's thought that Button wasn't happy with DR getting rid of JV. Both drivers could prove themselves to their many doubters in what could be an electric combo.

I would like to see Button back at Williams, then again Villeneuve as well. I hope BAR does well so Jenson can continue there competing at the top, so Jacques can go to Williams :) Wishful thinking, I know..

I think JB will get the 05 Williams seat. He is British, young, cheap and talented – the very combination I think that Frank would ideally like. That will mean that at least one BAR seat will be available. Will DR re-sign JV or will he go for someone else? Surely JV is the best option but there is always going to be tension between the guys and also there is the fact that DR did sack JV.

i really can't see jv swallowing his pride and going back to bar if jb went back to williams. it would be great te see him finish the job just the same tho. but i doubt that'll happen.

jb jv at williams would be verty interesting, but that leaves webber out doesn't it :?

shaun:  could you see jv going back to bar??

You can never say never in F1 my friend, however in this situation, the fact he decided/was pushed, believe what you want, into not racing in Japan showed how deep the rift is between DR and JV. So, in short, NO!!!. Although it would be gutwrenching if the BARf is competitive this year, knowing how much JV sacrificed ie, his whole bleeding career, for the team. DR had it in for JV since he came in at the beginning of '02, and went as far as banning CP from their "negotiations" during this year, which I think was the final straw for Jacques.

I was flicking through some backissues of Autosport mag, and in the 2002 season review edition, the one they bring out before Christmas, there was a big article where Pollock said 2003 would DEFINITELY be JV's last year at BARf and they were already looking for other drivers. JV also said the same, Now i think that JV has got something in the pipeline for '05 but couldnt find anything adequate for this year to decided to take the year off so as to be 100% fit mentally and physically for one last shot at the title.

PH came out and said that "not all of their driver options are under contract" Now as far as I know, all the candidates mentioned on websites are under contract, which could mean JV is still an option. As i stated earlier, JB and JV worked very well together after their spat. FW and PH are most likely still p**sed off that they won nothing last year when technically they finally delivered an excellent package, well come Austria anyways, but still thats the majority of the season and Ferrari didn't start that crash hot so its not as if they were miles ahead by the time the car was sorted. Now one seat is open, which will probably go to JB, but if Ralf does leave, and thats a big if, then JV could be the man for them. I think Webber will most definitely go to Renault in '05 if they perform well this year, plus Flav is his manager so he most probably do as the boss says.

The relationship between Jacques Villeneuve and British American Racing left a sour taste in everyones mouth, and it's Jacques whos paying for it by not having a drive this year, but I think he'd rather kiss and make up with M$ before driving for David Richards again.

If webber has another strong year, I cant see his manager Flavio Briatore letting him go to Williams, (unless he gets handsomely rewarded, of which Frank Williams is not the greatest payer of salaries), Instead Flav will snap him up for Renault and let Trulli go.

Alonso and Webber in a competitive car would be good to see. I would rather mark in a williams as I am still not 100% sure of the engine pwoer in the back of those blue and yellow things.

:o

Button has confirmed that he has no intentions to leave Bar. He prefers to win the title with a team he has helped build then walking into a team that guaranteed him a winning car.

He agrees that Villeneauve was very good because he said what he thought, but he believes he is tough and forthright when he has to.

This is another example why I dont believe that the personality of a driver matters at all, after all Villeneauve spoke his mind, and now he has no car.

I'd rather he speak his mind and not have a drive, rather than he turn into a PR robot with no personality and still have a drive. You don't understand how many fans he has because of his honest and forthright nature, which was matched by his skill and raw speed. Not many drivers have both, Jacques does, but for reasons of which we are mostly unaware of, he can't show his talents, well for this year anyways. Are you saying we are poorer for having the likes of Senna and Giles who were great personalities yet great drivers?

I bet all the M$ fans are packing themselves at the thought of Jacques in a competitive car again, I guess that's why they came out their holes and started bagging him and kicking him when he was down when the rumours about him joining Williams were at their peak late last year. If you don't believe me, check the forum on his website for a couple months ago, it will take a while, but its there.

I don't think JB will go to williams, I think he Knows something we don't and it might come in Melbourne. He may have seen the  and is very :D:D:D .
