It seems that Ralf will not stay to williams in 2005 so I think that BMW will want a german driver and as Heidfeld is a german driver he will have the chance that he deserves :D

Heidfeld is fast and will be free at the end of the season 8)

There are many possible contenders for Williams’ 2005 driver line-up. Heidfeld is German and this would please BMW, further more he is quick as he matched Kimi when they were at Sauber together (although it was Kimi’s rookie year in F1) and appears to be doing a good job at Jordan. Lets see how things progress…

I read a story somewhere that BMW dont neccesary want a german driver if Ralf leaves, just a good driver.

heildfeld is solid, and whilst german, i don't think that he stands that great a chance what with all the other outstandining driver's in contention (ie webber, fisi, button, ralf, even jv, dc and pizza boy). frank really is in a comfortable position and it's no wonder there are stories abound of him f'ing ralf & monty around.

however, it was reported that heidfeld's connection with mercedes has now been severed, so it's an an interesting option for frank if bmw are that keen for a german. and you just know frank's keeping ALL options open...

Heidfeld is an interesting one, although I don't think being German is a necessity although it could help. You never know in F1. I wouldn't begrudge him of the chance, just as long as its not at the expenst of JV!!

The question for this topic is a little daft as every driver is a possible Williams driver in 2005, it’s just that some are more probable than others… So really, no one should be able to vote `No` on the poll question.

Heidfeld at williams

Mmm if he has a good season with Jordan he is a possibility particularly in view of the Williams budget reductions in 05 & 06, but this will also of course reduce BMW's role in the decision making process.

He is only a possibility if Ralf leaves, in which case the Button Heidfeld combination is an ideal combination for the sponsors. However there is strong speculation that Jordan could be become the Mclaren B team next season (a la Sauber/Ferrari) which Heidfeld would probably use to get the seat he believes he deserves at Mclaren.

Again.. as every where in life his options for 05 wil hinge entirely on how he gets on at Jordan this year.

Eddie Jordan is at it again - volunteering to act as match-maker between one of his drivers and one of the bigger teams on the grid.

Having successfully paired Rubens Barrichello and Eddie Irvine up with rival outfits - the Irishman with Ferrari - Jordan last week said that he hoped to get Jos Verstappen, who missed out on a Jordan seat for 2004, a ride elsewhere - and has now claimed that he hopes the BMW.WilliamsF1 outfit will snap up the under-funded Nick Heidfeld for 2005.

Jordan took the German on talent rather than budget for 2004, and recognises that there could be an opening for the former Sauber driver in a team that can push him to the front of the grid next season. The former FIA F3000 champion has yet to find an F1 berth that has allowed him to display the sort of performance that saw him battling head-to-head with Juan Montoya in the feeder formula, but Jordan reckons that he is just the man to fill the Colombian's shoes when he departs for McLaren at the end of the season.

With Ralf Schumacher also rumoured to be on his way out of Grove, Jordan sees a natural fit between Heidfeld and Williams.

"It is my goal to get Nick an engagement with BMW.Williams," the Irishman revealed to Germany's Sport-Bild newspaper, "German business needs a German driver."

Heidfeld appears to be facing stiff competition for either of the Williams seats, with the likes of Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Giancarlo Fisichella and IRL champion Scott Dixon already being touted to join the team in 2005, but the German knows that any deal with Williams would be a step forward on anything he has yet sampled in F1.

On top of that, Jordan revealed that joining a leading team would actually allow Heidfeld to begin earning from his involvement in the top flight.

"Nick gets paid nothing by me," the team boss explained, "But, unlike other drivers in the formula, he doesn't have to pay for his drive with me either. I have no group behind me with a budget to supports me. I must earn money with my drivers. The agreement with Nick exists for this year but, any more than that would be impossible. Then he would have to bring some money.

"For him, the goal must be to go to a top team, where victory is a possibility. We cannot offer that, but Nick deserves it."

It would be very nice for Nick :)

Why would Sir Frank choose Heidfeld when he can have Villeneuve on a performance related pay deal? I doubt Sir Frank would want to partner one alongside the other so its more than likely that he will be forced into choosing one…

Mmmmm. Heidfelds seat at Jordan isnt even safe these days. How the hell is he going to compete at Williams.

In my honest opinion this will be Heidfelds last season in F1 as a race driver. Hopefully Im wrong, but I just cant see him bringing a sufficient proposition to anyone else.

You cannot be serious? The 1997 World Champion simply suffered a loss of motivation at BAR – after winning the Champ Car title in the USA, he has a phenomenal debut in F1 and wins the title the next year! After that he’s forced to driving below par cars for the next 5 or so years…

well thats his fult for moving to a s##t team is it now. he took the money and paid the price

OK, firstly, Villeneuve has more talent in his little finger than Heidfeld has in his whole body. If Heidfeld was any good McLaren would have hired him instead of Raikkonen. JV may be a has been, but Heidfeld is a never was.

As for him moving to BAR, how did he know it was going to turn out like that??!! That money argument is bull$hit mate. He had a contract ready to be signed from Renault for EXACTLY the same money he was getting at BARf, but stayed loyal to BARf only to get stabbed in the back. Check your facts mate, don't let your bias hinder your arguments.
