thanks alot mate. I read a fair bit about Ayrton's CART tests in the book 'The Life of Senna' by Tom Rubython and it's got a few pics. As expected, Ayrton was as brilliant as ever in those tests. Thanks again!

"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve

That car was driven by Rick Mears earlier in the season. I wish he had signed up for CART in 1993, then Imola 94 wouldn't have happened.

Irony of that is that then you would now been saying why did not Senna stay in F1 and so on.

Yes indeed, that’s a good book.

Senna was curious about the performance of the car; I don’t think it was a serious option…not at his age, whilst he was still in F1.

Indeed, he was really curious about all the kind of race cars...

the man was a highly intellectual person. Senna, I couldn't put that book down after I got it for my birthday last year, a truly great read. I might actually re-read it over the Christmas holidays, once I have all my uni work out of the way.

I would certainly recommend that you do reread it Shaun and I would certainly recommend the book to others.  I’ve been looking at a few chapters recently myself.  I love the detail; the book is thoroughly comprehensive not only in the sense that it covers virtually every facet of Senna’s life from birth to death and the consequences for F1, but it even chronicles all his results, in detail, from karting to F1 in a sizeable appendix. It also has a section describing all of Senna’s pole positions and victories and there is also a further section on statistics so it is very helpful for someone who has never seen Senna race.  It is also very well written and the many excellent photos punctuate the book nicely.  However, the book is roughly 600 pages long and thus perhaps those who are unaware of Senna’s brilliance, particularly those who are quite young, might be better starting with a smaller book…

Well you guys are the experts, I read a green cover hardbound British book about Senna, large size, square in shape ( :P ), with full colour pictures inside, glossy print. Any idea which one it might be, I want to read it again, but I cannot figure out which one it was :confused2:

For any other Cdn CART fans, here's a great pic of a very very young Paul Tracy listening to the master describe his experience in the Penske............. fascinating.........

"Schumacher has said he does not want to do anything bad or for anything bad to happen in this race, so I just hope that is what happens for his sake - but this shows how far Ferrari are prepared to go to help Michael win this Championship."

JV - Oct 25, 1997 - after Saturday Practice in the final round of the 1997 championship at Jerez, Spain. The next day would prove just how far Schumi was willing to go...................
