Jacques mentions René Arnoux and Gilles got punished after the French GP in Dijon, 1979. Could someone who knows more about the topic elaborate?

They didn't get punished per se, but there were many drivers who expressed disdain for the behaviour thinking it was dangerous and erratic driving.

Not among those drivers was Mario Andretti (the reigning World Champion, you may recall), whose comment was "nothing wrong there - just a couple of young lions clawing at each other"
