Ferrari Make Bid For Bottas

Recommended Posts

I tend to listen to Kimi directly rather than rumour. The hate towards Kimi in the media at the moment is extraordinary. I can't recall a time as intense and stupid as this. The media appear to want Kimi gone and are going to all lengths to try and achieve it.

How many years must Kimi endure this BS about his motivation. It's beyond a joke. I don't say that meaning I think he will be around for several more years. It's clear his time is coming to an end, but for goodness sake give the guy a break. He's always said the same thing basically and been consistent with it when it comes to his motivation. As soon as things aren't going so well for him, the tried and tested rubbish about his "motivation" gets dragged back into the fray by the media. No wonder he doesn't want to talk to them, and then why he does, goes into his monotonic persona.

I don't want to bring Alonso in this post, but I only do so because when he's having a tough time, it's ALWAYS the car apparently. ALWAYS. When Kimi's going through a rough patch, according to the media it's ALWAYS his motivation. Neither assumptions are true.

Go Kimi. Have a great race weekend smile.png

I totally agree with everything you said, it's simple if he had no motivation he wouldn't be there, he had already said he won't hang around the paddock if he isn't racing, that's the truth and yet they still want to make a story. Iam not being biased about this, but how can alonso do anything with that car? We all know how bad it is and how far of the pace it is. Pre season I was saying Honda would do well and clearly I was incorrect but it's such a huge deficit that its obviously the car, they can't even drive it flat out because fear is there of yet another retirement but the bright side is, it can't get any worse so it's only time they make a move forward. IMO I would focus on next years car now and not focus on false hope of a points let alone a podium.

Yeah I agree. Alfonso and Button have the best car in the field at the moment and they cant do anything with it!

If that was a joke, it was funny - very funny. Nice one. Let's getting something straightened out here. Honda didn't come on board to build a car. They came to supply an engine. Well, the car breaks the engine, in layman's terms NOT because it's a bad engine but because it doesn't compliment the car engineering-wise and vice versa. There is still a clear cultural and working practice gap - no doubt about it. It's clear that it's time to go back to basics and build a B spec at least. Everyone sees it - Ron won't say it. Now that Renault look set to join Mercedes in F1, 1.6L p**s pots will stay. I will leave you with this conundrum. If Bernie doesn't sell up now will he have anything left to sell in five years time? For me, the end is drawing nigh for the F1 we all know and love. Off to turn 6 for a nap before the gravel travellers start again.

Like I've mentioned before, the engines arnt the issue, it's the regulations that govern them. We could have a fantastic era if they were allowed to run them full tilt it's as simple as that. As for Mclaren and Honda, it's hard to say as Vandoorne said they setup is quite good in terms of chassis wise, I think Honda are simply suffering from the lack of testing and what people fail to realise is that it's been a hell of a long time since Honda have mucked around with turbos. All there cars are NA so all the turbo expereince comes from the expereince they have from f1 and it was totally different last time turbo engines were in. Yeah they have special engineers that specialise in that field but if you have ever driven a v-tec Honda before, there reknowned for there power up the higher end of the rev range, maybe they don't have the revs available to get the power they need due to the regs. Maybe that's the issue there struggling with, just a guess but it seems quite fees able to me.

Just for my own interest, how would the car be breaking the engine?

I wasn't meaning to go into details on Alonso's situation. But he gets a free pass in the media is what I'm saying. With Kimi it's always him, his motivation, with Alonso it's always the car, he's always the hero dragging a dog around the track. That's a huge generalization, but that's how I see the media refer to Kimi and Alonso. Thus one is never blameless, and the other is always to blame.

This is basic language for ERS, EMS, Brake-by-wire and other McLaren-designed electronics not working seamlessly with the combustion plant. In fact, often having a detrimental and catastrophic effect. However, though down on power, the car looked OK this morning but the back end is still nervous which is definitely not a Honda problem.

That is true and I think that comes because most see alonso as a better driver than kimi. Iam not trying to bait you or rile you up or anything it's just the general consensus think that as do most the drivers. Much of it also comes from you said earlier I rekon and that's be ause kimi doesn't really talk to the media, they make him out to be "lacking motivation" or just plain rude. But we all know kimi is the same he has always been.

I see. Could be issues with cooling and packaging too I suppose.
