Jean Alesi As A Team Boss

Recommended Posts

i really need to get to bed...i read Jean Todt first ;)

Anyways, i do not know how good Alesi would be as team boss. It would be rather bold move i guess, personally i dont like the B team looks (especially of any TOP team).

nooo I want him to stay in dtm!

Following information from "auto, motor and sport" Jean alesi is in talks about a roll as a team manager for the McLaren B-Team

The Japanese investment funding "direxiv" would like to buy a McLaren Chassis after the 2008 regulation changes in order to send out their own team, which they will fund for at least 5 years.

Martin Whitmarsh doesn't wish to comment on these rumours any further, but states that he will support a project as long as there are "real people (like ones who are serious about doing it" and that it would be "possible". McLaren personally have no interest in having a second team.

Jean Alesi, who is active in the DTM, has good contacts from japan and has a japanese wife. However, the charismatic 41 year old is tied to a 2006 DTM contract.

Jean Alesi promotes GP2 driver Olivier Pla, a fellow frenchman and also for McLaren mercedes, a B team would make sense, like Red Bull have done.

Both promote young drivers, however, drivers currently had to start at the start (as it were) like Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Michael Schumacher and Nick Heidfeld. Presently, Gary Paffett and Lewis Hamilton two very promising drivers are tied into contracts (Gary Paffett is EXCELLENT!)

Weather from 08 total chassis ownership will change is unclear.

According to Whitmarsh there are come critics in F1 "The majority are not agreed". It is hard for the sponsors to secure their own individual identity if chassis would be bought. "You run the danger of teams just buying themselves cars and that shouldn't be allowed in F1"

There we go

Bit of a strange choice - what does Alesi know about running a team! He's a strong personality, which will be good for f1, but he also had a reputation of being very angry and firey (make sense?) with a short fuse! Ex-drivers have a history of failing at running teams - Lauda, Prost, Stewart

Stewart was actually a remarkably successful team. Johnny Herbert won the 1999 Nurburgring race and Rubens Barrichello was on pole for the 1999 French GP in a Stewart. The team also got 5 podiums in just 98 races.

And a 2nd place in their 5th race. Some bad hydralics prevented them from scoring more.

B) Wish Sir Jackie would not have sold out.......

First there was Stewart Grand Prix (3 years in F1), which was bought and changed to Jaguar (4 years in F1), and now there is RedBull (still in its first year in F1). Maybe it's just me, but I have trouble imagining that they will be around any longer than either of their predecessors....... <_<

I am with Senna on this one, I think Sir Jackie did a phenomenal job in running his team. It only took them 3 years to win a race, whilst teams such as Sauber and BAR have not won one yet, and it took Jordan 7 years to do so. I'm not saying those teams were badly run..well BAR was for a time as was Jordan at the very end and Sauber has always seemed to be well run and managed, just underfunded.

As for Jean, I'm not sure he will be a good team boss, but until he is given a try, then who are we to judge.

Don't get me wrong, I was a fan of stewart and herbert, but the 1999 european gp was 1 for the memory books - brazil 2003 situation with everyone falling off the circuit, and the stewarts and trulli left at the end to pick up the reward!

Yes but a true reflection of stewart's level in 1999 is to say they were the 4th best team. Which of course, is still good for a new privateer team in their 3rd year

Just one question.... what on earth were you doing on a german website if you can't read it?!

They always seem to be faster with the latest gossip than our english websites. That's why.

they definatley are where DTM is concerned (in this case also), it's their number 1 motorsport, even more so than the great formula 1. I've always found that english and german websites are very similar in their formula 1 news though, give or take a few articles to each side

neither would i, but i have no grudge with them, so im quite happy for them to stay!

Bring back Arrows!!! :clap3: hahahaha ha
