Franck Montagny, using a V10 engine with simulated V8 power, went fastest for Renault at Jerez as the teams completed their "dry-weather" testing programmes for the year.

It was also the last outing for the Frenchman as an official Renault test driver before he leaves the team in search of a proper "race" drive.

So it took Michael Schumacher to break JV's fastest V8 time of the whole week and abit long Jerez test. Great morale boost for JV and BMW, even if it was on fumes (as many suspect and is probably the case), still a good time.

hummm... now, MS was using a v8 and Alonso a v10, and Alonso was .13 secs slower almost, even if it was his first test, i dont know, could it be foreshadowning, if it is, it will be a close year if the renault v8 is close to the restricted v10

thats like comparing the v12 engines they used in the 50's and the ones they used in the 80's. the only thing simmilar is that they burn fule and have 12 cylinders
