TotalF1.com A1GP Season

Recommended Posts

After relatively little consideration and even less encouragement, I have started the first TotalF1.com A1GP series. Here's a few reasons that I think that an A1GP series would be an interesting change from the typical F12006 series that we've been playing to date:

- Each racer gets to represent his or her country.

- All the cars are identical and equally prepared.

- There are no THINKERs allowed, so no one has an advantage for set-up strategy.

- There are no team mates, so you're not dependent on anyone else's participation throughout the season.

- Practice and Warm-up runs are limited, which tends to really mix up the field.

There is therefore NO advantage for the KT players (other than the wet/dry set-up tool that is provided), and virtually anyone can win any race - making it by far the most egalitarian series on BATracer.

On the negative side, the races are shorter, and there is less passing and fewer pitstops as a result (in fact, only one pitstop is required per feature race, and none for the sprint races). It's much more of a pacing and strategy game, and tyres are also very limited - both in the type and number available, so although tyre preservation is key, there is less risk of getting your tyre strategy wrong....

As a final word of warning, BATracer offers the following disclaimer for the A1GP series: Warning - not for the inexperienced player, this can be a very frustrating series.

So, if anyone is interested, and any of you think you're good enough to compete at the sharp end of the BATracer spectrum, here is the info for joining the inaugral TotalF1.com A1GP Season!!!!!

Players will need to be registered and logged in before they can enter the private game. When logged in, clicking the following URL will take you to the join game page:

The game password is "totalF1"

Alternativly, you can select "private games" from the menu and enter the number "6143" into the box.

Team Faroe Islands meet the Press:

Press: Here we are with former team Denmark driver Mike Oxley. Mike, how did you find yourself way over in England?

Mike: Well, I'm not sure. After being fired from team Denmark I went on a bit of a drinking spree and woke up on this funny little island.

I made a few phone calls to Team USA and found out that Chris DeHarde was already driving for them. Fine, go find a ringer, see if I care! Anyway, I went over to local pub and took up a collection, bought a car and here I am!!

Press: Sounds like a Cinderella story!

Mike: Indeed. The hard part was figuring out the car's paint-scheme. Nobody on those islands seemed to have any clue about it. Finally an old codger dug up a dusty flag of some sort and we painted the car.

Anyway, GO TEAM FENROW ISLANDS!!!!

Press: That's Faroe Islands...

Mike: That too!

No I can manuallly start the series with as few as 16 cars, so we'll see what the level of interest is before making a decision on how long to wait.....
