I love the sense of occasion with vinyl, the preparation. Cleaning and careful placement of stylus. The endearing warmth and a bit of crackle....lovely. It's just so.............................................'right' for the music. A ritual I'll never get tired of. Tried downloading some to my PC and then copying to CD but it just ain't the same. Something gets lost when you have a computer assigning digital equivalents of the analog sound.Excellent little movie, drib, showing the madman that we all want to be. Vinyl is the absolute best medium for enjoying music (excluding live performances). Its somehow makes music more occasional, if that makes sense. I have never downloaded a song, but a whole lot of mixes where there are songs I can't justify buying (eg Barbara Norris "Heavy Hitter" single is US$100, Clarence G "Clarence G's Club" $500, and Fockewulf 190 "Gitano" $150) is included. Also, going to a second hand records store and spending hours going through their stock and finding the bargain always makes my day. I like old players too. I have a couple (a techniques 1200 and a portable one for picknicks) at home, pluss one old Marantz set aside. I love it. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

They weigh a tonne, and are therefore very unpractical. I have not been able to play them yet as I have not a player, and I doubt I ever will. Havent seen any players for sale yet (to be honest I have not made it my first priority). But Bruce, as you have one, are they easy to come by stateside?
