Ron Dennis Compares Alonso To Senna

Recommended Posts

Finally a person that uses his brain rather than his fists! :D

Exactly, his lack of technical knowledge does not take anything away from his track performances. It is a hindrance when it comes to set up, and he might have benefited had he the technical abilities other drivers have, but that does not mean he is not fast (obviously!)

Saying that he gives no technical input is just a trait of his personality. Kimi lovers shouldn't take that as an offense. There are lots of intuitive genius in different sports, Kimi is one of them, not because I say that, but because everybody that worked with him said that, while no one praised his technical knowledge (except for his fans). It's widely known that Rubinho used to drive using just one feet on the pedals instead of both. That didn't prevent him for making that ugly brick of a Stewart-Ford fly!

Geez, can't you people distinguish between comments on personal traits from personal attacks? Should we Alonso fans threaten to sue you every time you make a comment on his eyebrows or his agressive way of turning on curves?

There is no lack of technical knowledge, it is just a myth.

Like is myth that Alonso would have some speciality in that area. Ask Flavio Briatore, not Ron Dennis. He has a bit more experience of Alonso's abilities.

And about Kimi's ability to setup car: Ron Dennis and Whitmarsh have admitted that Kimi is actually very good at it. It has nothing to do with laziness. You just have the ability of don't have it. Kimi has it.

EXACTLY, There is no doubt Kimi is very fast and the second best driver in F1 infact only behind the champ, but the fact he cant setup his own car to the extent of certain other drivers does take a bit away from him in the overall picture.

As for Barrichello, Alistair Gibson was saying to my dad that on the telemetry Barrichello is a few hundreds od a second slower than Button on every single acceleration point because of the fact he only uses one foot... Likewise Kimi's inability to setup cars may hamper him at times, particularly in a new team.

Alonso may be the luckiest in F1, that's for sure.

Even Heikki Kovalainen will beat Fisichella in the same way as Alonso did at Renault. That car is just so good. Does that mean Heikki is the best driver in the world then?

Unfortunately he can't win world championship, because of Kimi and Ferrari. It is just bad luck for him.

Hey, though I have never heard of them complaining about the so called Kimi's technical inputs, I have never heard what you just mentioned. If you don't mind, did you read it in a magazine or a website?

I have heard that he got the seat in Sauber despite his inexperience because of his technical inputs and his ability to set up cars!

It was in finnish magazine. What they said wasn't actually very flattering, but it was there, and it was like this: ' Kimi can give fantastic information about the car behaviour, when he is at that mood, when he isn't , he just goes home'.

- So it wasn't meant as credit for Kimi, but all in all, the information is still in there: even though Kimi is that sort of person who does whatever he wants to do, he still has great ability to analyze the car behaviour. Most talented drivers usually have that ability, actually.

And this information was given AFTER Kimi left Mclaren, which can actually be understood from the style of the sentences...

Now also Kimi's test engineer from Sauber, Jacky Eckelaart, later Honda F1 team test boss, has come out of closet. He said in finnish television interview: 'I got very good information about car behaviour from Kimi. He doesn't tell long stories, but can tell very briefly and accurately, what is most critical in car behaviour, and that helps engineers a lot'.

So, myth busted.

I always belived he is good at it, and I belived it was not true that he is not good in developing the car. Ok he might have been a little lazy, but look at the amount of test drivers Mclaren have had in the past, but I belive Wurz is one of the best at developing the car, I am sure he was the main man behind the Williams this year. When they had guys like Wurz, they never needed Kimi which may have made him lazy, I just suggest that, not that i know a lot about it.

Another myth that has to be busted is the so called engine breaker title given to Kimi by M.S's and F.A's fans. Now that the the reliability of the Mercedes engine improved it is really difficult to prove, but lets see what happens when F.A. pushes it to the limit. And lets see if Massa and Kimi can enjoy the bullet proof relaibility from Ferrari that Micheal enjoyed. (Barichello never enjoyed the reliability M.S enjoyed, so can he be called a car breaker?)
