correct me if i'm wrong, but i've only seen sato spin once in the races.  the other spins were in practice..

Does that make it better?

The fact that he spins off is bad enough. By spinning off and crashing in practice he lost track time, by spinning off in qualifying he lost position and by spinning off in the race he lost places. Yep

yea JPM spins heaps in practice eaven M$ has a spin every now and then. its better to go off in practice because your weekend is not over(as it whould be in the race)

don't hold your breath on him doing it either....unless he gets into trouble at monaco....lots of drivers have had some great crashes there...including himself.

come to think of it, it's been a pretty clean season....so far anyway. i wonder if the slippery sand will spice things up a little.

of i forgot there was an actual topic! :D

it will be very disappointing if the team bosses don't change the qualifying format to something a little more appetising than the current yawn-athon.

You can’t compare MS’ and JPM’s spins with Sato’s. Sato has spun off a little more than either of these two and how many races has Sato driven in where he hasn’t crashed, caused someone else to crash, spun or been pathetically slow – there are none, Sato doesn’t deserve to be in F1 and even after venturing onto the grass twice at Australia and spinning twice and crashing once at Malaysia, along with been perpetually trounced by Jenson (1 sec per lap is a huge margin in F1) to the extent where Dave Richards admits Sato is still erratic and offers to give him driving lessons, Taku and Webber still wont say that he is a bad driver!

that's right alastair i will reserve this judgement, if it is so required, until the end of the season. like i've said before, he will get better and untill he consistently shows that he cannot cut it, and there are no longer valid reasons for his on-track indiscretions and underperformance, i will continue to defend him no matter how vehement the criticism of him gets.

ie: i believe he deserves a fair go. i felt the same way about pizzonia despite being very much pro-webber.

i know you don't like sato, m$ and don't regard ralf very highly, but who is your favourite driver out of the current crop? surely you do support, and not just criticise?

well hes not the best driver but he is no were near beening a bad driver. Masser is a lot worse than Sato and that year with Ferrari has not made him that much better (well no in the Australian GP). but you dont bag Masser out. I must say that i like Sato's style and apart from he makes the race worthy staying up for. i know this has been said befour by some one on this forum but it is better to have sato and a engine thay to have JV and no engine as well as lossing the $7 or $8 million more that JV will cost

Japan 2002

and Japan 2003

because M$ ran into him. and people (manly Alistar) its only the race that matters

I’ve argued on countless occasions that Japan 2002 and 2003 were not good drives by Sato so I won’t repeat myself but can you only come up with two examples after a season and a bit of races?

And Massa is quick. He’s impressed me by beating Fisichella, which is not something we see very often - he has obviously learnt a lot from his time with Ferrari.

Alistair .... are u against sato because he is in BAR or because he got JV out of a drive or because he is F1 at all ...

come on just give him till the end of the season... as many including me have said b4 he is not the worst ever in F1 and if he's deemed not good enough by BAR at the end of the season then they are not gonna keep him for next year and he'll have to get another drive some where else... ..

I don’t think Sato deserves to be in F1 let alone BAR. His performances to date have been quite appalling – he is reckless, slow and a danger to the rest of the grid. Further more, he cost both Alesi and JV their drives in F1.

Sato’s performances this season have been very poor and if he doesn’t improve I wouldn’t be surprised if he is sacked (although DR will probably keep him even if he only scores at Japan)

sato's performance poor?? he sure beat button in quali this weekend... nah not poor... i would say he is improving at a very fast rate to be able to beat BUTTON in qualifying and stress on the point tht he should be given a chance and this season is his chance.....

amjay , not to harp about how easy it is to qualify on LOWWWWW fuel , but let see how the 1st pitstop goes for both drivers before you think that Sato-Span has learned how to play golf alreadies .. ..:lol::lol:

Sato has to handle himself well during the race (as does everyone else old or new)...this is the earlier part of the season when point grabbing potential is right there for BAR..FFF ,especially when Alonso/Kimi both had qualfing issues .

Thats two main rival cars right out of the way and Jaguar seem off too for a total of three cars out of the way...the best chance Sato-Spin-Span-Spun will have most of the year.

He better get points should that Hondaaaa last the distance and do not be spurprised to see Button pass him during the race.

Sato has to build up some positive achievements now while he has some grace period ...the Sun-light is on him .....Sato-Spin-Span-Spun :lol:

Button said he thought he could go much faster than he actually did and that he lost a lot of time.

"I'm lost as to why my qualifying lap was so slow," said Jenson. "We could and should have been quicker, so I'm actually quite disappointed.

"The car has been great all weekend and we've been looking so strong, but this afternoon the car felt very different."

Sato out qualified him for the first time ever and by only 3 hundredths of a second. Considering this, Sato didn’t do particularly well. But really it’s a little early to comment on this particular qualifying performance, as we don’t know the fuel loads.

 I was going to be a real smart astronaught and get into

this back and forth insult fest but instead I'm calling for an END to this

continuing meaningless drivel everyone knows how everyone feels about Sato, but I will say this---Takumo would drive the pants off of anyone of us

SO GIVE IT A REST!!
