"Every driver wants to beat Schumacher and win the title while he's still around because he's won so many championships and done a fantastic job in his career," Jenson said. "I want to win while he's still driving, otherwise people will say I could only win because he wasn't around."

Button must have a lot of faith in the new BAR Honda, to go shooting his mouth off like he is doing a lot of this year I know he is the lead driver and would be talking more this year than last, but he is pushing it, I hope he can put the car where his gob is :wink: :wink : if he does I for one would not be suprised. Yep, agree with you there. Button will get close to M$ though a couple of times...when he's moving over as M$ laps him.

I agree, i think this "team leader management " course Jenson has gone on over the winter has fried his brain, I think he now actually believes his own propaganda.

They are setting themselves up for a BIG fall.

They should stay humble like Jaguar and keep their goals realistic.

Through all this its funny how none of the media are bagging Button about some of these comments, but would jump at the chance to have a go at Jacques if he dared open his mouth and say something. Double standards.

I think there would be many fans of F1 that would like Jenson to beat MS, but I very much doubt it will ever happen, particularly if MS remains in a Ferrari and Jenson in a BAR. BAR does appear very confident for the coming season but if they don’t deliver I think they will have effectively compromised their credibility and any future pre-season messages will not be paid the same consideration.

good on ya jenson. it's true, if you truly believe you're going to be a great driver then you want to race against the best there is ie m$. this is all jenson's saying. take me seriously cos i think i'm the real deal and you all better recognise. whether it's in a bar this year (yeah i know as if) or in a bar or williams in the future.

I think what button recognises is that hes not in MS's class. Therefore if Schmacher could just wait around till hes say 70 then Button might be in a car at that time that might be faster that Schumacher and also finish a complete race distance.

It’s very difficult to say exactly how good MS is. After all, he insists team orders are imposed on, in contrast to his latent, decidedly average drivers in a team built around him and we all know he cracks under pressure. How do we know that in, identical machinery and without team orders, Kimi and JPM wouldn’t beat MS – it’s very difficult to say. I’m not saying Jenson would be at MS level under those circumstances but I do believe some drivers would be, particularly the two aforementioned ones and that although undoubtedly very quick, and no one can deny his obvious talent, (I’m emphasising this point to make perfectly clear that I think MS is great driver) MS is somewhat overrated.
