Renault To Be Dragged Into Row?

Renault to be dragged into row?

Tue 11 Sep, 11:25 AM

The 'spygate' scandal has never just been about Ferrari and McLaren, although they remain the central players in the drawn-out saga, and a fourth outfit - Renault - could be about to be dragged into the argument.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, McLaren boss Ron Dennis has information about potential transgressions by the Enstone team that could see an immediate expulsion' from the world championship, and could bring the details to light at Thursday's World Motor Sport Council hearing in retribution for what he sees as unnecessary involvement in the spy row by Reanult boss Flavio Briatore. The report claims that Briatore was a regular visit to the McLaren motorhome at Monza, and that the conversation was not about Fernando Alonso....

Similarly, the story claims that Dennis will also arrive in Paris armed with a file listing illegal aspects of Ferrari's assault on the 2007 world championship, suggesting that the war of words between Formula One's two giants is likely to run and run unless the FIA can find a way of solving the situation to everyone's liking. Even that is unlikely, however, with Ferrari team boss Jean Todt having already declared that he is prepared to take the matter to the civil courts in the UK if McLaren is 'let off' again.

Flavio should have kept his trap shut :-)

How about we just expell every team? I'm sure everyone has had someone from the team talk to Ron Dennis at some point in their life, so let's just ban them all. Actually, a 0 car race would be just as exciting as your average 22-car one.

Looks like Ron knows he'll be banned, so he's trying to set other teams up for ban, too, to make him 1) look normal "cuz everyone else did it", and 2) give rival sponsors/teams less airtime/success. Of course, that's just what we call a biased conspiracy theory.

In all seriousness, I don't care anymore. It was a fun story for a week, now it's just dumb. Let 'em all stay. Boo hoo. Life's tough. Get a helmet.

If everything gets resolved on Thursday one way or another I can live with it- as off-track dramas go it's one of the more interesting ones. But my concern is that this will go to appeal after appeal, and if that happens I may dissolve in a pool of tedium.

To me it's akin to when a celebrity gets caught with half a pound of Columbia's finest up their nose. Everyone else in the biz is just as guilty, so the crime is not the act- it's the getting caught. The eternal paradox of the acceptable transgression. My favoured outcome would be for Ron to find some dirt on Ferrari, then blackmail JT so everyone can shut the hell up.

Ron is right here. Flavio is a double crossing b#####d, one day he will hit against the FIA, the next day he will be spotted having threesome with Max and Charlie.

Flavio should have stayed out of this. Flavio tried to attack a dying cobra, too bad, he didnt know it was still poisonous.

Sincerely, my thoughts now are going to Lewis Hamilton, a guy that has done nothing wrong and could pay for something he didn't do.

A McLaren ban could seriously ruin his career and then we'll have to miss what would have been the best driver in years and the only one really able to challenge Nando.

But let's face it...we are going to savour the Raikkonen-Massa rivalry...exciting isn't it?

yes healthy rivelry between two men is exciting rather that attention seeking jibes or crying that i m not being given fair treatment..

this reminds me of behaviour of bollywood actresses who works in multistar films..they are always bitching of given rough treatment by producers/director cause they are not from their camp :D

Massa VS Raikkonen is a false rivalry...Kimi is way better than Massa IMO he is just adapting himself to FIArrari (not to forget that Massa is managed by Don Todt's son himself). Next year it will be a completely different story

Yes but nowhere near Kimi!

I remember Massa being overshadowed by Heidfeld and Fisichella in his Sauber days. When a driver has something more than the others you should immediately see it.
