As I stated in my post regarding Dixon and JV, I can't see MW signing for Williams. In Autosport I read that they wanted him for this year and beyond but Flav said he would only give Webber to Williams for this year, to which Williams refused. This only serves the purpose of highlighting that Flav wants MW to drive for Renault as teammate to Alonso. Now that would be a great team, and would allow Mark to prove how good he really is. If he performs well next year, then the doubters will go I guarantee it. We can't really judge him until he gets an experienced and quick teamate and not rookies with $$$. MW is good I have no doubt of that, but how good is the real question.

I came across this interesting analysis on gp2004.com

"As for Button, he can only leave BAR if, by mid season, they are lower than the fifth rung of the constructers ladder, while Webber is only free if Jaguar is lower than sixth by the same time. So really, that doesn

If BAR has a season like they had in testing, they will finish in the top 5 in the Constructors Title.

BAR will almost certainly finish 5th in the CC.

Maybe the fact that Frank is looking at Dixon suggests that he has moved away from Webber and Button. As I have frequently argued, neither is very likely to sign for Williams next year and there is a real sense of uncertainty about Williams’ 2005 driver line-up.

thats y 2005 is going to be a BIG BIG BIG year for all of the MW, JB, GF and all other good drivers that are not in good seats. and this also eans that there is going to be a lot of fress blood in the mid-teams. so i think that Bruni might get a half allright seat next year. but we still have nelly all of 2004 to come so we will just have to wate.

I THINK IT IS FAIRLY EVIDENT EVEN AFTER THESE PRACTICE SESSIONS TODAY THAT MW IS LIFTING THE CAR ABOVE ITS STATURE. ITS CLEAR THAT FORD ARE NOT GOING TO INCREASE THEIR BUDGET AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE WRC. MW WILL GO AND MY FEELING IS IT WILL BE TO RENAULT DUE TO HIS CONNECTIONS WITH FB. FB WILL NOT LET HIM GO TO WILLIAMS WITHOUT A BIG PRICE ON HIS HEAD!!!

 8)

You can have a slower maximum speed than the other cars and still easily have the best machine. Maximum speed does not take into account, traction, handling, acceleration etc. However, I don’t think the Jaguar was the best car out there by any stretch of the imagination and Mark did do a very good job but I think he has less fuel than most of the other drivers…I don’t place too great an emphasis on a qualifying performance until we see how much fuel was used.

Think you will be suprised just how on the pace Jaguar will be in the race,as i don't think they are that light on fuel.

What does bug me though is everyone thinks the only reason its quick is because Mark Webber is driving! Yes he is quick but Jaguar have produced a bloody quick car this year its over 3 seconds quicker that last year at both tracks so far and Mark was driving then too!

So lets give some credit to Jaguar too for producing a car on such a small budget!!(compared to the big teams anyway)

Alistair,

Never mentioned that SPEED trap speed was the only factor to put a car on pole. Have a look at at the track and the precentage that the cars at top revs! I get sick of people that are often to suggest after ANY driver does a fast time that they must be light on fuel. Yes we will wait and see in the race and if a driver comes in early for a pit stop are they short on fuel? There has to be other factors considered in the pit stop, Sit down and acept low fuel or not it was a good lap by a good driver in an average standing car!

Mark’s lap was very good and he appears to be a great talent behind the wheel I just didn’t want to commit myself to a stance on his qualifying performance until after I knew how much fuel he was using, as this often proves deceptive. It’s a shame about his race and even though he didn’t finish and had problems at the start he still managed to impress me by his overtaking.

Just an odd thing here, but did anyone notice Webber nearly putting a Renault into the pitwall early in the race. I think it's already showing he's been hanging around M$ for a while!!

Alonso, and FA just backed off and passed MW on the other side. BTW I don't think it was as close as the ONE camera angle shown made it look.

yeah maybe, but I can only comment from the ONE angle we were shown. My comment was meant just to stir the pot mate, MW isn't a dirty driver, just taking the p**s, thats all.

is it just me, or does anyone else think Webber intentionally spun out of the race?

when i saw the reply it did look quite odd.....but on purpose im not sure if i'd say that.....i think it was just frustration and he really was not paying a ttention at all just getting angry reflecting at what had happened...and then he just lost it since he wasn't focusing at all.

This is a very good point , and honestly during the race Webber was battling and passing Ralf and others...meaning his car's performance is THERE.

When he had the flat , the car was damaged lumbering around to get to the pits and that affected the handling most likely causing the latter spin.

Webber will be producing points should the car last the distance no doubt.

What is really scary is the second driver for the Jaguar Team right now , should of took someone experienced and scooped points, they will need it.
