Webber already signed with Williams !

Recommended Posts

Just an odd thing here, but did anyone notice Webber nearly putting a Renault into the pitwall early in the race. I think it's already showing he's been hanging around M$ for a while!!

shaun

yes, but well within the rules a la schuey. just one looong change of direction

he was very aggressive and apart from the choke of a start he does look the business mixing it with the big boys. you won't see mark making the same mistakes twice.

The starts were slow from both vehicles after succesfully practising these throughout the weekend. Could someone with technical knowledge on the cars inform me if these sarts are slow as a result of the car or because of the driver.

cougar,

the jaguar team have been on record stating that it was not driver error, so it must have been a computer glitch or system malfuntion ie. slipping clutch or faulty traction control, anti stall kicking in at the wrong time etc.

Alonso, and FA just backed off and passed MW on the other side.  BTW I don't think it was as close as the ONE camera angle shown made it look.

yeah maybe, but I can only comment from the ONE angle we were shown. My comment was meant just to stir the pot mate, MW isn't a dirty driver, just taking the p@#s, thats all.

shaun

yea i was about to say MW was just defending his line and he did a god job i might add

he didn't say it in adelaide 94 though i don't think........

it was so obvious in 97 that if he didn't admit it people would of questioned his intelligence.

It was blatantly more obvious at Adelaide 1994 – Michael cracked under intense pressure, went off the track and into the wall, returned back onto the track with a damaged car, turned into Damon Hill and didn’t attempt to pull out of the move, and Schumacher’s car was actually elevated into the car when it drove onto Hill’s wishbone.

At Jerez, Schumacher never left the circuit and just turned in Jacques. You could clearly see MS looking into his mirrors so it was pre-planned and not spontaneous, further more Jacques actually went onto the grass to try to avoid him! While this was still blatantly Schumacher’s fault I think Adelaide was worse, but it’s just a matter of opinion.

In the latest edition of F1 Racing mag, they had a survey as to who should drive for Williams next year. Of course, no mention of JV, but in a side bar, they said that the list of candidates, ie Button, Webber, Fisi etc are B+, whilst there are two A+ candidates with nothing on their plates. Hakkinen and Villeneuve. They said it would be great as they both know how to win and more importantly, beat M$. Mika has always wondered what it would be like to drive for Frank, whilst JV would be effectively going back home. This won't happen as I see Mika retired for good, but it's an interesting thought though. Now that would make a great team. The cool and precise and quick Hakkinen matched with the outspoken, passionate and determined and super quick Villeneuve. One can only dream.

From Autosport:

Jaguar believes Webber will stay

Jaguar reckons it can retain rising star's services for 2005

Will Mark Webber be waving goodbye to Jaguar in 2005?

Jaguar Racing believes that it can retain the services of Mark Webber for 2005, despite the Australian's front row qualifying performance in Malaysia last weekend increasing speculation that the WilliamsF1 team could buy him out of his contract at the end of the season.

Webber's Jaguar contract include performance-related clauses that tie him to the team but Williams is believed to be prepared to make a big money offer for the Australian.

“We have no intention of losing him,” said Jaguar chief Tony Parnell. “If the car goes well and the team goes well, he'll want to stay.”

You always think it is greener somewhere else but that is not always the case

Mark Webber

Webber for his part has asked his manager Flavio Briatore and Jaguar to clarify the situation over his future by the British Grand Prix. “You always get what you deserve and if people think I can go somewhere else then that is possible,” he said. “You always think it is greener somewhere else but that is not always the case.”

How can Jaguar compete with Williams for the services of Mark Webber.

Williams record :9 championchips, lots of wins, budget $359M per year, drivers salaries $6-9M,testing budget $74.1M,Engine Power 925HP

Jaguar: No championchips, no wins, no poles, no fastest laps,$170M Budget, $3M drivers salary for MW, Testing Budget $4M,Engine Power 880HP

There is no contest!!!

Even Paul Stoddart has been on record stating that MW will be a champion if he moves to Williams.

But I must say that Jag do an amazing job with the limited resources they have, the R5 is looking to be a real dark horse to upset a few of the fancied cars this year

Hakkinen is not coming back to F1. Villeneuve is an unlikely choice for Sir Frank because of his salary demands, recent performances (he may be suffering from a lack of motivation which would undoubtedly be resolved by returning to Williams), perceived work ethic etc. I rate him very highly but I think he’s an outside bet for the Williams seat/s in 2005. I think they’ll sign younger, long-term options, but that these won’t be either Webber or Button.

I never mentioned Mika would return, just mentioning the article, geez, talk about shooting the messenger  I honestly think Mika is done with F1, and as for JV, I don't know what to think anymore. But if they were still in F1, they would be an attractive pairing for Williams I think. However, going by Dixons test, I think they'll sign him.

nps dude. Yeah, but I dont think Dixon was confirmed as having a test when the printed the mag. Not surprised that Button Webber and Fisi were nominated. An article on pitpass recommends Pizzonia. As for drivers admitting fault. JV did it when he hit the wall in Canada '97, saying it was a beginners error, then in Canada '98 where he made a banzai move on Fisi for the lead into turn 1 after the safety car period and lost it completely where he apologised to the team and said the emotions got the better of him, and Canada 2000 where he hit Ralf and immediately apologised once he got out of the car. Funny how all these happen in Canada. Rubens has his probs at home after doing well in his first race there, so does JV who finished 2nd in first race at home, now it could be webber. got 5th in first home gp, then 2 DNF's. Hope the streak ends next year.

I was impressed by Dixon too and since Frank has stated that, “Ralf would be the preferred choice” I think its quite likely that these two could be at Williams in 2005…but I’ll probably change my mind in a month or two.
