Windows Movie Maker Help

I hate PCs. Oh so very much.

I don't understand why Windows Movie Maker has to be so generally incompetent compared to Final Cut Pro.

Anyway, my experience in video production is using Final Cut Pro on an iMac. But I happen to have a PC at home, use an iMac at school. I have to make a video for my Spanish class, and with the due date being Monday, and filming taking way too long (still not done), I have to edit it over the weekend, which means on a PC, using s##tty PowerPoint Maker, or WMM, whichever you prefer. So...

1. Where the hell is the blade tool?

2. Where the hell are any of the tools, for that matter? (and yeah, I know, there's one right in front of the computer who can't use a simple computer program, tee hee )

3. Why does Windows fail so badly in terms of precision? On a Mac, you can use the arrow keys to get it precisely where you want to make a cut or w/e, on PC it's just a lucky reaction with the pause button.

4. If I start editing on Final Cut on a Mac, and save it as a QuickTime Movie, and email it to myself, can I continue editing on WMM on my PC?

5. Will someone give me $1999 so I can get a Macbook Pro?

Does anyone know of any open source movie editors that are really good? I'm searching, but if you have a recommendation, I'd love to hear it.

I can't verify if this is actually good or not, since I don't use it, but I've gotten other recommended software off this site and it's been good.

As for WMM, I think you can make precise 'cuts' or add other effects more precisely by switching between timeline and storyboard view and then you can click exactly where you want to do whatever (then again, maybe that isn't what you mean).

No, I just did it so I could get away from a NASCAR forum. Imagine being surrounded by 300 different redneck variations of ash1 who, instead of copying and pasting, type it out in their own words, which is even worse, because their form of English is excruciating to read. "Now ya'll is gonna be doin yerselfs a favor I reckon if ya'll is bein readin with that there Bible see cuz if ya'll got Jesus well then ya'll got everfin ya'll ever gonna need yerself I reckon." And when it wasn't that, it was "maybe Dale Jr should get hisself to F1 cuz no one watches F1 and maybe people'd watch F1 if Dale Jr was there." It was painful.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I was really hoping you had used it, since you make so many pornos, and that's really what I'm doing, so I figured your advice would be most relevant.

As for WMM, I quit and had my dad do it on Pro Tools, which actually has video editing in it, so we'll have to see if that works. I probably could have been clearer: I had an MP3 and I wanted to cut out sections of it but leave some sections in, and then put them together. After badly mutilating the theme song from Delta Force, we got a pretty good 29 second (I wanted 30) intro. Because nothing gets me pumped up about amteur scenekid porn exercising and eating healthy in Spanish than Delta Force.

So now I actually have to like, start filming.

Re video - depends on what you are trying to do, but FFMPEG is a good open source tool for handling/converting video. Quicktime Pro is not bad if you don't mind parting with a few dollars ($25 I think).

Audacity is an excellent open source audio editing programme.

The video's done, on YouTube, got a 94 thanks to me saying "ahora" like "uh-whore-uh" and not "ah-or-uh"...whoops. But I appreciate the advice. Fortunately, I was able to stay after a few days and edit the video on Final Cut Pro on a pretty new iMac. I did the audio on my dad's computer with his help, using Pro Tools. Hopefully I'll never have to use Windows Movie Maker again...and yeah, my mom made me quit karting a few years ago, but I still have a use for my racing gloves...every time I touch the PC, I put those on, so I don't get conficker from it. Not like it'd matter if my PC had gotten conficker, it's already got a virus: Windows XP.

You can see it here. The deal with ahora is at the end with the super close-up of me. Not the only mistake. Lot's of editing mistakes, too. We cut some stuff off by accident...instead of "que comes tu" we got "comes tu"...and we had no idea to say "you are going to die," hence the "vas a ser muerto"...the music at the beginning and end is very quiet, for anyone who watches the entire thing, so turn the volume up if you can't hear it and want to.
