BAR to win 'Button affair'?

Williams has not even lodged Jenson Button's 2005 contract with F1's 'Contract Recognition Board.' The revelation either suggests BAR will be a clear-cut winner of the Briton's service or the challenge will soon head to court.

A British report also said, despite speculation of a final decision in September, the Swiss board has not yet set a date.

BAR's spokeswoman told us that the team's '05 contract with Button is lodged and they are simply 'awaiting their findings.'

If BAR does win Buttongate, who will drive for Williams? Since it will only be for a year, I wouldn't be surprised if Pizzonia got the drive. JV could be a chance as I feel that until Button came up, he was the favourite.

I wish JV will get the seat if JB continues at BAR. Pizzonia is doing a good job but not enough...

Even if the recognition board finds Jenson's contract in favor of BAR, all it merely is, is a recommendation. However, their finding as no legal barring on the final outcome. It is simply leverage or an authortative opinion.

That means Jenson will get his way as he has so adamently stated numerous times.

If BAR do win, then it confirms that Button has the worst management team currently on the pitlane. Only Jos Verstappen, and Fisichella have a comparably bad management team and only Eddie Jordan has worse lawyers.

Just to clarify the last point, this presuposes that BAR and Williams dont come to some settlement around compensation, which is what will happen in all liklyhood should it be found that the terms of Buttons BAR contract have been met. These can only be establised in court/

Ill try mate, but it aint easy when alot of the media constantly slag off any chances JV may have. Hopefully a resolution is sorted out soon, no matter the outcome.

Well, you are'nt the only one worrying about JV. You got me for company.

i really don't see where all the optimism is coming from. either way we won't have any idea until the season's over cos the teams are way too busy fighting for the scraps in the wcc right now.

i'd love to see jv back in f1, but i just don't see the momentum for it happenning. he did make some noise (sauber) but i think the temporary interest has waned again...

There is good cause for my optimism. All the top drivers (MS, KR, JPM, FA etc) have seats for 2005 at all the top teams, all accept JV, and there is one vacancy at either Williams or BAR. This means that there is little competition for the remaining seats, as all the big names (except JV) have a drive for the following year which means that the only options available to teams which have not finalised their driver line-ups are rookie drivers (such as Vitantonio Liuzzi) or test drivers (such as Alex Wurz). JV is better than any of these drivers. Now, If Williams get Button; BAR will most probably resign JV on a performance related pay deal. If BAR retain Button, Williams will opt for the next highest driver on their infamous list: widely believed to be JV. Furthermore, with Jarno, DC and AD all likely to sign for other teams, JV is the only remaining option. Let

For all our sakes and most importantly F1's sake, I hope what you say comes true 'senna'.The sport badly needs characters like him. Too many drivers zipping their mouths shut.

Where have I heard that before? I wonder if the reporter will honour his agreement.

If he is stark naked, i bet a lot of women and gay dudes will be there, as well as spammers who will spam his image to over 500 million e-mail addresses around the world. Interesting if he had his "jollies", eh?

I think you'll be keeping your clothes on mate, story doing the rounds today is JV stating no serious discussions going on with anyone. Could it really be over?? Nothing will be sorted until Buttongate is over, but is JV as high on the lists as we (myself, Shadow, Senna) wish him to be??!! Im starting to really doubt it.

Well who else is there? Only Davidson, DC and Jarno are really competing with JV for the Williams/BAR drive and they are strongly rumoured to be going to Sauber, Jaguar and Toyota respectively. JV is very lucky in that there really is no alternative to him as MS, RB, KR, MW, FA, RS, GF, and JPM etc ALL HAVE SEATS. Will Williams or BAR risk giving a seat to a rookie or overrated test driver? I really don
