Trulli thanks JV for vindicating him

Jarno Trulli believes Jacques Villeneuve's 11th placed finish in Sunday's Chinese GP has vindicated his claims that he wasn't the problem at Renault.

Trulli was dropped by the team after they lost second place in the Constructors' Championship to BAR at the Italian GP, the fifth successive race in which Trulli had failed to score a single point. In his place the team signed Villeneuve, a former World Champion, who team boss Flavio Briatore is hoping will help them regain the runner-up slot.

Briatore has also blamed Trulli for Renault's demotion in the standings, claiming he was "making less effort" than his team-mate Fernando Alonso. Trulli, though, says it's the team's fault, not his, and believes JV's mediocre performance in China backed up his claims.

"I must thank Villeneuve for his honesty: he could have said that he drove an exceptional car, but instead he said nothing but what I've been saying for a long time," Trulli told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I saw myself in Jacques: a struggling driver with difficulties, even though he was returning in F1 after a long time off and nothing more could be asked of him."

JV has been a ****ing year out and he can justify his poor performance. The Renault is very difficult to drive but FA drives the same car and drives it to the points and in high possittions.

He's a very bitter man right now, he can't handle the fact that he was doing a bad job. Get over it Jarno, you were doing poor. Jv did just as weel as you easily, in his first race in roughly a year.

At no point he thanked Renault, he thanked only JV. Anyway, we will know in Japan or Brazil if the second Renault is performing.

The great news is that Trully will be in a Toyota the last 2 races, its obvious that he will be motivated to have good results because of Renault and because he maybe will want to show his potential, but I think that he will still have bad performance...Then he wont have to say "Thanks" to anyone.

That's a broad brush statement! I don't like Flavio, but I don't hate him, Jarno gives him his only win of the yr. and Flav is slamming him shortly after!
