ecapdeville 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Well, the news was in a famous sports newspaper called "Record" and it says that monday will be official, it says that Ecclestone would come to mexico after the race in Brazil to sign the deal... In a news from SPEED tv.com theres an interview with Bernie talking about the UK grand prix... "Ecclestone said he could not afford to prolong negotiations with the BRDC any longer because he has an offer on the table from a more willing promoter that needs an answer." Shadow 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Finally F1-Live saw it fit to post it Mexican Grand Prix all set for Cancun Mexican authorities announced Wednesday evening that Cancun, Mexico will host a Formula One race in October 2006, AFP France report. Local Governor Joaquin Hendricks made the announcement after concluding a series of negotiations with Formula One Management President Bernie Ecclestone. The brand new venue will take place in October 2006 and the new facility will cost in the region of 80 million US dollars and will be spread over 300 hectares. The last Formula One race held in Mexico was in 1992 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez. The facility is still in use with the Champ Car World Series making its second Mexican visit of the year to the circuit in a few weeks time. An official announcement is scheduled for next Monday. The inaugural Grand Prix will be held in 2006 in the eastern resort of Cancun with the contract running till 2010 according to the investors. We concluded our negotiations to organise a Grand prix in Cancun from 2006-2010 with the Formula One authorities on October 7," revealed Luis Silveira, a representative of the group who are willing to invest in the race which is likely to cost 70-80 million dollars.
