i hope you're wrong, but sauber with a fully operational wind tunnel has an advantage there too. i think a change in management may also hurt bar initially. i wonder if richards was well-liked? if you believe f1 racing he has God-status..

Sauber, win a race?? We'd need another race like Brazil 03 for something like that. BAR deserved a win this year, and I'm very confident they'll win a few next year. Renault are all talk and I can't see them winning under that idiot's leadership

i agree, flavio is an idiot, but renault do know how to win.

people also felt the exact same way that you do about sauber now, about bar last year. i was told i was dreaming on this very forum when i felt bullish about bar last year.. there are a few parallels b/w bar pre-04 and sauber pre-05. not much, but there is always a team that impresses relative to prior-year expectations and it very well could be sauber.

for obivous reasons, I hope Sauber get a win before BAR, but as jemstride says, it'll take some extraordinary circumstances for Sauber to win a race, but Im hoping to see alot of extraordinary circumstances next year!!

For Renault to consistently to win they need a team boss who doesn't mess his drivers around, Renault are a very good team but I can see in a few years when Alonso isn't performing, Briatore will mess him around too and kick him out in the harshest way possible, like he did with Button and Trulli

I don't know what to expect from JV cos his Renault races really were pretty poo. Massa has some very good days but I think JV will beat him. I agree however that it'll take a miracle for Sauber to win a race. BAR jumped up in 2004 but I can't see it happening to Sauber

Renault in 2004 was a poo car! To be fair to the guy he came bang into the season at a very advanced stage, into a car that was easily 3 seconds a lap faster than the car he last drove - and all this from a year long lay-off (c'mon, even MS would not have done much better). His racing for Renault was purely a buisness deal between Sauber and Renault. Renault wanted Fisi and to have him released from Sauber in good time , renault agreed to ease JV in back into F1 with the last races so he could get a feel of the speeds and know exactly what to work on in terms of adapting come winter testing! So even Briatorre in his heart of hearts knew JV would really struggle - but it did not matter, Fisi was in the bag!

BAR did not deserve to win! They should have won! They had the package (and driver, if we are to believe you) and every race they were a contender. Come 2005 however they will rue the chances they missed, this will not be the season they get their maiden win. Sauber will be much improved, but they will most certainly not win a race. I agree with you, Renault are crap and the only excitement from their direction will be their unbelievable starts!

Jemstride is right. Renault would have us believe they were fighting for the championship, therefore we would have expected when Williams and Maclaren went on vacation in 2004 that they would naturaly fill that gap - instead we saw a staggering display by BAR! I do not think they will come up with a good car this season and they will have in addition to BAR, Sauber to think about. Oh, and Toyota!!!

No cos I'm actually ecpecting Toyota to do much better in 2005. I don't expect much from Sauber because to be honest they never really go up or down. But Toyota are surely ready to pose a threat this year, they have a lot more 'vital ingredients', and I know I'm in a minority but I think Ralf & Trulli are both brilliant drivers

well i wudnt say ralf and trulli are brill, but i am expecting toyota to improve this year, and sauber have been in f1 for 10 years or whatever and have never really been in a different position, yes they have a wind tunnel, but that isnt the only thing they need, a few podiyums but thats all im saying they'll get. All i can say is COME ON JENSON AND BAR!!!

GO JENSON GO. Poor young Button still has his critics, so here comes another brilliant year to silence all of them!
