Ralf: I Will Be Champion

Recommended Posts

from itv-f1.com

Ralf Schumacher is convinced that he will be champion with new team Toyota.

Ralf admitted that he was tempted away from Williams by the possibility of emulating his big brother.

Michael joined Ferrari when they were at a low ebb in 1996 but has since helped transform them into arguably the most dominant team in F1 history.

Ralf is determined to do something similar with Toyota.

He told sportal.it: "In the space of three to five years, I am certain I will be champion. Our objective for next season is get onto the podium when we can, with the championship a long-term goal.

"My brother Michael had to wait for five years before he won his first title."

Toyota now have everything in place to get amongst the top teams. As well as Ralf, they have recruited Jarno Trulli. And next year

Ferrari came 3rd in 95, he joined them the end of that season so they were hardly low.....and as for ralf or any toyota driver being WDC in the next 5 years, surely its a joke?

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE SO STRUGGLING AS THEY WERE LAST YEAR IN THE NEXT 5 SEASONS TOO...BUT I THINK THAT RALF IS DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO BE A WDC WINNER,AND OF COURSE NOT WITH A TOYOTA...

Ferrari were winning races before Schumacher arrived, Toyota haven't even finished anywhere near the top 3. And when schumacher moved to ferrari, his dream-team soon followed from benetton. Ralf is in a completely different situation. And even though he has his good days, he's not Michael Schumacher and he won't be total number 1 over Trulli, like his brother was over Irvine.

That is definitely true . No way Ralf is goin to dominate over trulli.

Wahey you agreed with me about something. Probably cos it didnt involve Jacques Villeneuve or Button! I reckon it'll be very close between Ralf & JT. I personally rate them both highly, especially after the brilliant performances of JT for most of 2004

Ralf was diabolical at times last year and JT undid all of his excellent work at the start of the season with his awful driving at the end of it. They are both highly competent but overrated drivers that will improve Toyota but they are not in the same league as MS, Kimi, JPM and the other top drivers.

Could whoever loses this battle be known as the most overrated driver in F1 today. They're both very good in bursts, but equally as bad in bursts as well, should be interesting to watch, especially if the new car is good.

I think toyoat have to improve from thier lowly placing, they have the cash and some very good people behind the scenes, now they have two reasonable drivers, but I dont think they have the best drivers to get the results, yet.

Toyota will surely be much better in 05 than in 04. With a good chassis to compliment the good engine and driver line-up they must be expecting to score plenty of points. I predict a competitive midfield battle

I agree, he is pretty much same calibre as Button, but I think he will have a better season than Button in 2005!!
