Why Are F1 Tracks So Boring

Recommended Posts

There are so many great tracks in the world (half of them in Australia) why is F1 stuck with the boring ones, tracks like Siverstone and albert park and all the rest of them arnt very exciting. Monaco should be the first to go. It has so little overtaking i dont know why they just dont award the winner to the person who gets pole postion. I dont know alot about overseas tracks but i would love to see the formula 1 cars at Bathurst or Canberra. What do you guys think about the F1 tracks and what whould you change if you were the FIA?

Canberra is no better than Monaco, whilst I can't see F1 cars coping well with the dipper at Bathurst. I like Silverstone, it always provides a great races. The big problems is that one person is designing the new tracks (Tilke). If they shared the load then we would have different people with different ideas, and not the same repetitive circuits.

If I were the FIA, I'd get Imola back to how it was, go back to the old Hockenheim pretty much.

No-one wants to go to Australia more than once in the season. Bathurst would just be plain dangerous for f1. Silverstone is a good circuit, Magny-Cours is crap. Can't get rid of Monaco, may be impossible to overtake but its exciting cos people crash into the barriers, and fans get so close to the action!!

I think that F1 cars might beable to do bathurst. The track has had numerous upgrades, it is smoother than its ever been. What they should do is test it. take a Minardi and run 50 laps. See what would happen. My guess they would need the highest ride hight on the F1 callender but it would be the best test of skill a F1 driver could have and it would make for great racing.

I don't get why the same guy gets to design all the new circuits. They're not even that good, the racing wasn't as brilliant as we were all expecting. I really hope a London GP can go ahead. Bernie wants it, f1 fans want it, its just difficult at the moment because London is trying to host the 2012 olympics

Which paris is already pretty much going to get :( , The circuits i despise are magny-cours, shanghai andhungary. The shanghai track was soo boring, its a great design but the race was a bore. Hungary i hate and magny-cours too cos they are very plain and have no atmosphere. Silverstone is brilliant becos it produces amazing races, and i love monoco becos its fun. Them only new circuit i like is malaysia. But all of tilkes designs are very samey!

do you think it's Tilke's best track Senna?? I think he really screwed up Hockenheim, the first bit of Nurburgring and most of the Bahrain track. Malaysia is his best track followed by China in my opinion, although I remember an interview with Martin Brundle who thought it was a waste of opportunity as the corners are too close to one another and its too technical. He's right in a way in terms of passing, but you are right that it is a fun track to drive on the PS2

Damn the fact F1 04 came out only in Europe, anyway, I think we ought to dump Albert Park and go back to Adelaide, and change Imola to Pre-senna specifications, tamburello only. As for the 1 gp per country, Monza has to stay, it's been there since 1950 and don't you remember 1988? Also Id try to bring back the OLD nurburgring, the 14 mile lap one.

I only have an X-box, and i really wanted an f1 game to come out but this year they gave the rights to SCEE which annoyed me. Id much prefer EA games making f1 games because then X-box will b able to have it!

I like shanghai as a circuit because its soo unusual but the racve was so boring, i actually fell asleep on the live race, maybe because i was still drunk from trhe nite b4 but i still wasnt gripped by it!

And the old Hockeinheim. It has gone from one of the best to one of the worst.I personally like long tracks, Spa for one.

What year is it based on?

The original is based in 2001 teams, but you can find in Internet a lot of mods, now you can race the 2004 season in 2001 tracks (thats the only bad news) but its really great, I

Despite the track being redesigned to encourage overtaking, more overtaking actually occurred on the old track. The old track also looked more attractive as the cars sped off into the forest. It was also faster with the cars reaching higher top speeds and fairly historic. However, many of the drivers complained that it was too dull and it

I don't mind the new Hockenheim. Its always a shame to change an old track with lots of history but this is more of a problem when they turn a challenging track into a bland modern one with no overtaking and slower speeds. The new Hockenheim probably does give more overtaking chances or at least as many when you account for the shorter lap time and its more practical and economical. As you say the old one was a bit boring for the drivers and probably not as physically demanding.

I must have about 20 + videogames featuring the old circuit but only one or two with the new one on! The new Hockenheim circuit is quite fun to drive on F1 2004, it has a changeable mix of corners and it flows quite nicely with a few overtaking opportunities. As has been said before, it was only changed because the new circuit is easier to patrol and finance. I also like the fact that they
