Dennis Criticises Mosley Speed Limit Offer

Kimi Raikkonen had to be 'almost physically' restrained from taking the grid in Sunday's fated six car grand prix at Indy. McLaren boss Ron Dennis told Autosport that the Finn, desperate to close the title gap to Fernando Alonso, took a bit of 'holding back' before agreeing to pull into pitlane.

He added: ''How can anyone ... suggest that guys like these hit a speed limiter button in a racing situation?'' Dennis' comments should be seen, although far more veiled than Paul Stoddart's recent eruptions, as a criticism of Max Mosley's decision to not sanction a chicane.

The FIA president said he offered to set up a pitlane-like 'speed trap' for Michelin runners, worried about unsafe tyres, in turn-13. ''It's incredible,'' Dennis' comments concluded.

Clearly a laughable and pathetic offer from Mosley. It is clear he did just want to create problems for the rebel teams at Indy.He didn't co-operate at all

I think they should have come with a more safer option for going around the banking, i think the Michelin runners should have moved up higher on the banking and proceeded slower from there. That or use the entrance to the pit lane which would probably be the more practical solution. I think we should just move and forget about Indy 05' and look forward to the next race, baring that 'race' weekend this season has been brilliant and despite the beliefs of the tabloids, F1 has not been as hit as much as they have portrayed, in America yes but every where is just talking about it, it will not destroy F1 at all.

Unless our beloved Max doesn't take off points from the Michelin teams next week..in this case,as Stoddart has said they will move away from F.1 soon and it will be just Mosley's fault this time.

Btw,despite they were not summoned Minardi has confirmed they will take part in the hearing and Jordan will proably do so too.Guess who won't take part? Ferrari?

its perfectly fair for them to have anyone lapping them because their tyres dont work. Ron Dennis and keep forgetting the onus is on them to come up with a fair solution. Mosley rejected our demands is not good enough, you were not in a position to dictate, but you tried to nevertheless.

kimi seems to use the pitlane speed limiter ok, when it comes down to a threat of a drive through or stop go penalty. impose a voluntary black penalty for exceeding the limit and watch them step on the limiter. and the speed limiter was proposed for the whole lap, if the max speed was limiited they would not have to use it everytime.

oh, like that would be fun, watching cars going stupidly slow around a fast ish circuit. OIh yeah, i think id rather see a 6 car race than F1 cars running around a track at a very slow speed. what the point!

The 9 teams should get together and pay Mosley to leave seeing that the 1 team is paying him to stay

What about the pit lane speed limiter.

It would have been the same for FA so points could have been earned regardless. As it is they have both lost points to MS due to their respect teams playing politics.

I've been following F1 since 97 (not that long but I'm only 19) and saw ferrari fight for 3 years before they could win. If I wanted a pure ferrari forum I would stick to scuderia.net. but its more fun to argue your point
