It is far from immaterial because it has been used countless times by you and other posters to bolster your criticism of him, and is completely unfounded.

thats Bajo bait :P
cavalinno completely agree.tata grp is a$14BILLION enterprise and had they wished they could have paid $40million and purchased minardi.as they also have interests in the european and asian markets.instead they have decided to concentrate on their software business more(have a contract with ferrari as software partner.narain himself in an interview (and the tata grp)have reported to the indian press that the deal is worth 6million euros(roughly29 CRORE RUPEES).IN MY FIRST DAY AT THE FORUM ITSELF(three days ago) I FOUND that narain bashing is the norm.i gave

an adequate reply to the discussion about his wheel banging at spa with JV.jv DID NOT COMPLAIN AT THE POST RACE INTERVIEW. WHY ARE U. AND SENNA DONT WORRY ABOUT HIS FUTURE. HE HAS 2OPTIONS

1& MORE LIKELY A TEST ROLE AT A BIGGER TEAM

2he has a clause in his contract with midland which gives him an option to drive in 06 at midland if every thing else fails.AND DONT FORGET MIDLAND ENGINE SUPPLIER TOYOTA HAVE A BIG MARKET IN INDIA.

they would back him anyday over snail sped monterio (who has had no retirements cos he has not pushed to the limit.and gained a pt cos he came just bfore narain at the 1 pitstop during the safety car period and narain had to wait in q)they took him for a visit to their colon factory in may. and we know how engine manufacturers can have an influence over driver selection (how nick got a last minute nod from williams cos of bmw.

Well Karty is crap or not will be decided in a few weeks, if he doesnot get a seat in F1 nxt year either as a test or race driver. To me his performances till date is nothing impressive and will be out most probably. As I mentioned earlier F1 is not all about the 20 best drivers of the world racing for glory its a combination of the driver's skill and money making potential. Besides, it doesnot matter what we decide here, it matters what the team bosses think about him. However, I agree that we can always have our own views and in that matter I think Karty will be out nxt season.

But, I still dont belive that 30 million US myth about him as its simply not possible and its sad to see some members here posting it repeatedly in every post regarding this guy. (may be they were not convinced themselves) That brings me to his defence.

Leaving aside all, I am a die hard KIMI fan and am very sad this season and dont feel posting anything about it. Hope all the summed up bad luck for Renault and Alonso pours down from Brazil to China and for Suzuka I would be there personally. Haha.

I am sick of seeing this figure being thrown around by people in their ignorance. As far as I can make out the figure emerged after F1-live.com posted a news story saying that Karthikeyan is 'rumoured' to have paid 30 million dollars for his drive. That figure is ridiculous. It would total to about a 1.35 billion Indian rupees. That is far beyond any amount an indian company doing most of its business in indian currency would pay. The most credible information about how much money he paid is about 7 million dollars or 5 million pounds. That is also a pretty massive amount by indian standards, but I think the Indian corporations would just about have recouped it due the the initial high interest in him in India. That is certainly not going to last another year.

This is almost certainly his only year in F1. He definitely does not deserve a non pay drive on merit, and he does not fit into the sponsored driver plans of Red Bull or Midland. He has not done any worse than other rookies this year, and will go away like many pay drivers before him. Arguably he is better than some of the pay drivers that have passed by before him, like Zsolt Baumgartner or Alex Yoong. He came in with the tag of being quick but erratic, and has more or less lived upto it. He has been far less lucky than his teammate in terms of technical problems in the season, which will leave him with a record inferior to his teammate.

In any case he will go down as a pay driver who paid as much as other pay drivers to get a drive and did not make enough of an impact on the sport to give him another drive. Let us leave it at that, instead of throwing the 30 million figure around to try and separate him from other pay drivers in F1 of whom there have been many.

Edit: some links for the possible figure he paid

http://www.indianexpress.com/full_story.php?content_id=64118

One of the Indian posters actually quoted a figure of $40M but regardless of whether it was $30M or $40M that effectively subsidized the Indian's lack of talent, Karthikeyan is undoubtably the worst driver in F1 at the moment and totally undeserving of his place on merit, or any place in F1 for that matter. I look forward to his deserved departure from F1 at the conclusion of the season.

Do not evade the question. I will state it again for your perusal.

Do you have any credible source that says that he paid 30 million dollars. (Senna has already admitted that he only had a news story from f1-live.com to go upon). I have stated numerous sources and counter arguments to contradict that. If you do not have any reason to believe that you can refrain from using the 30 million argument to push your argument and to misguide less informed members of the forum.

Since when has Bajo39 :mf_tongue: ever used any credible source. His only source has always been his own opinion

I am indian and i am really proud that narain is in f1 .he has shown that he can drive and also has car control whereas montiero is a finisher.the figure would be around 5 or 7 million and not 30 millio .I am saying this because last year i heard that they offered narain a minardi seat for 6 million pounds and he did not get the drive because he could not raise it so this year he had his chanc e with jordan.anyway red bull has almost finalised their drivers and jordan seem to want davidson ,i hope he gets a minardi or jordan drive even though we can always predict their postions this year itself.for all the narian bashing he is very fast and i think he is driving above the limit of the car , whereas montiero always drives inside the limit and manages to finish .

[The problem is that narian is driving a inferior car lets see how he oerforms during the end of the season races, he tapers off during the middle of the race and makes mistakes, anyway he is better than montiero and i am sure he will be faster than davidson ecause narian has already beaten sato in f3 and sato even beat button on many occassions

[You guys are shouting like this because f1 was basically a european sport and now it is going global in three or four years an indian f1 team is a possibility and then we can see i even heard that ferrai is going to be sold?india was a closed economy till 1991 and now we are pulling even just wait in another 5 years the corporations will come and we can easily buy out any of the small teams or start one of our own

Yes unfortunately senna was not informed by the god almighty but by F1-live.com as he has clearly admitted.

This thread shall serve as a reminder each time you have the audacity bring up the 30 million issue again in a Karthikeyan related thread.

This thread shall serve as a reminder each time you have the audacity bring up the 30 million issue again in a Karthikeyan related thread.

If this thread is to serve as a reminder, let me note for the record that I trust the information Senna provided. I also trust the several Indian posters that corroborated his reports - one even claimed the figure was $40M! - against their own interests.

So long as the thought police are not on your side, I suspect that this view will remain the consensus...

You have no source to support oyur claim, let it rest at that.

Please explain what you mean by that? I would like to respond but I don't know what you're refering to.

I repeat:

Senna is my source, and a reliable one he is.

Of course that source's reports were corroborated by several indian posters, including one who claimed the figure was actually $40M, against their interests. The real issue though, and I would urge the forum to concentrate on this, is that Narain is dangerously underqualified for F1. He should be replaced and his superlicense revoked immediately.

probably, in any case news sources count for something, not obscure forum posts.

I will find the post and quote it for you here if you insist on provoking me.

All that provocation has not produced a news story saying NK paid 30 million fo his drive. says something doesnt it?

Edit: I am sleeping now, I have a feeling this thread will still be devoid of evidence contradicting me tomorrow.
