Jv's Hard Luck

Recommended Posts

Our local race coverage was somewhat lacking in an explanation, why did JV start from the pit lane? He did well to finish .07's behind Massa. To bad he could not have capatalized on his qualifying effort.

It had something to do with the team trying to cheat and alter the car while in Parc Ferm

Speed tv said that the team made to many changes to the car without asking/or getting permission..

Something about his setup being changed. Wasn't clear on the ITV coverage as to what was going on there. Good race by JV actually. He did have quite a bit more fuel than Massa as had been speculated. Don't think a top 8 was on the cards today though for either Sauber driver. Considering he started last, JV did ok. I think he was on a 1 stopper that looked like it got changed to a 2 stopper. Not a bad day for JV, but still a shame he had to start last.

Apparently a mechanic went to make a change to the roll bar without asking for the FIA's permission, hence JV's race was forever screwed. Our host coverage here didn't even mention it until they saw JV in the pits.

JV's race was another of those hard fought and very solid drives that will go unnoticed. JV had double the fuel load of Massa which further emphasises how good his quali lap was. He was on a 1 stopper and then they changed it to a two stopper as he was short fuelled on his first stop. He got stuck behind Doornbos due to a lack of straight line speed and a heavy fuel load. JV really had no right to finish .7 behind Massa considering JV started from the pits and Massa should have been faster in his first stint considering how light he was and how heavy JV was. I think a P7 or P8 was in the offing today. Oh, and JV's fastest race lap was .3 faster than Felipe's.

Yeah JV had a really solid race. Too bad about the penalty but thats how things go sometimes. He should do better at Suzuka and Shanghai, both tracks that JV likes.

I'm not sure about Shanghai blue. He's only raced it once and that was with Renault. He did really well in Brazil and I think ever though behind Massa had a better result when you consider his fuel, starting from the back and so on.

The team removed a link from JV's Rollbar, The rules state that the only changes that may be made to car car are in the case of Rain, in which case obviously the tyres & the front wing may be adjusted.
