Williams Choose Rosberg

Williams have decided to hand Nico Rosberg the second race seat at their team next year, according to a report in this week's Autosport.

The German's performance in clinching this year's inaugural GP2 championship and the input he has provided in testing for the team have left Williams adamant that he is the perfect partner for Mark Webber in 2006.

Although the news has not been officially confirmed, Autosport reports that an announcement should be made in a matter of days.

Williams are believed to be keen to avoid the scenario of last year when they made a late decision on Nick Heidfeld, so as to give Rosberg as much winter testing mileage as possible to get up to speed.

Rosberg is confident that he will be able to perform well against Webber.

"It shouldn't be a problem to drive against Mark as long as I get a lot of winter testing," he was quoted as saying by Autosport. "I need to get enough kilometres to make sure I'm ready but apart from that I'm okay."

Rosberg's appointment leaves the future of test driver Antonio Pizzonia open to doubt. The Brazilian said earlier this week that he would consider taking the third Williams drive for 2006, although he is also believed to be in talks with other F1 teams.

Yeah, considering that the Americans basically liberated Western Europe for the most part, which is one reason the French are hypocrites.

the americans are also extremely arrogant and like to take all the credit - despite entering the war 2 years too late! don't forget Mr American that britain stood alone after half of france was taken, and we successfully resisted germany invasion in the battle of britain. We suffered blitz bombings, you didnt. America showed what kind of country it is by dropping nukes on innocent japanese citizens. USA hasnt really changed much since - still bombing defenseless countries!!

Brits Kept the sea and air under relative control which is why they survived. Americans played large part yes, but not decisive. The decisive part was eastern front where the Soviet steamroll eventually overcame better disciplined german troops. But that cost about 20 million lives i think i read as soviet commanders did not care for lives..just for victories

Speaking of Axis, you could say it been so for while as i kinda seem to remember a german driver in italian team who has won some events. Beside if four too much for you then count Rosberg as finnish

oh yeah thats the one. Nope when he won they played british anthem! he's from northern ireland. I always wonder if other countries get confused, half our sportsmen are 'british' like tim henman, but our football and rugby teams are 'english'. Of course there's no way in hell that the scots or welsh would want to be associated with england. I think they should just be grateful myself

I think the welsh are scum. I don't get why they're all so proud to be welsh - I don't think they realise that the rest of the world sees them as a crap little country - in fact half the world dont know what wales is! They hate the english even though their beloved millenium stadium is paid for by english government. I wish we could build a giant chainsaw and cut wales off england, and let it float out to sea. Plus their accent is RIDICULOUS
