But isnt that a good thing, cos it shows they are real people just like the rest of us? Divorces, teenagers smoking drugs, happens in a lot of families! I like the royal family mainly because it is a symbol of britishness, having a king/queen with knights and royal carriages etc and a big palace, its part of our heritage. Having said that I can see why australia wouldnt care if the royal family disintegrated!

I watch this british documentary 2 years ago about the true royal family. Apparent several hundred years ago a person who became king was actually illigitement and shouldnt have been king. This documentary followed the true line of the Royal Family until they found who should be king. Appently the real king of England has lived in Australia for 45 years but was born in England. It was the funniest thing ive ever seen imagining this guy as king of England. He had a rather large beer gut and loved going to the pub with his mates to watch the crciket and rugby. Remember this was a English documentary and they flew all the way to Australia to meet this guy. You should have seen his face when they host of the show said that he is the true King of England.

It depends how far back they went. The lineage has changed often in the past due to wars, untimely deaths and so on. tudors, stuarts, Plantagenets and Saxe-Coburgs.

I'm happy with the current lot, especially Prince Philip; he's pure entertainment.

I have no problem being linked to England. I just dont like the Royal Family. Something i have always wondered in a hyperthetical situation, if America invaded New Zealand and we defended New Zealand (as we would) what would England do, techniqually we are still part of the British Empire, there are only 3 opinions.

1. England help Australia

2. England stays neutral (which would mean that they ignore our defence treaty)

3. Join America in the invasion

Dont take this personally Americans, i know you have no wish to invade New Zealand (who would) but im just curious where English loyalities are.

New Zealand have a army of about 500 men. New Zealands entire defence requires Australia's assistance and they know that we would help them as much as we can. We (Australia) have a intense loyalty to New Zealand as we faught together in both world wars. Japanese battle plans for WW2 were released afew years ago and they were planning to invade New Zealand after they had taken Indonesia. Then they would have had Australia's major cities sorrounded and the invasion of Australia would have been much easier. These days New Zealand doesnt really have a army to speak of these days because they arnt really threatened by any other country.
