Similar. Button's value is also inflated but only because of Honda's desire (rather their music/entertainment subsidiary's desire) to see him launch a boy-band called "The Metros" when he finally realizes he shall never win a race and quits F1. Competing for Jenson's time is The Gap chain of clothes retailers who are angling to lure Jenson from that fruitless driving career of his and have him launch an international line of pre-ripped, pre-faded jeans.

I would like to hear this from Toyota.

Even if it is true, I hope, there will be performance clause to this contract giving room for both the parties to get out of the contract. If not, I can only pray for Toyota (and also pray to a lesser extend for RS). :D

Oh please am I the only person here who actually rates ralf quite highly? He put in some great drives this season, I'm certainly not a fan of the miserable git but he's absolutely nowhere near as bad as most of you make out. I'm very confident he'll do well at toyota he actually seems to be happy there, which he didnt at williams

In my opinion he has to prove himself next season to c if he deserves that much.

Ralf did some quite amazing races e.g. Spa and Spain. People here just like to beat on him cos he's a Schumacher. simple as that.

You might be!!!

He has flashes of talent with a lot of drought in between. He is capable but doesn't seem motivated. A long term contract will do nothing for him or his team. The politics of F1 are becoming very apparent. Toyota is a German car wannabe. Having a German driver fits in their marketing scheme.

I can only roll my eyes toward heaven with what is transpiring. F1 is going to be nothing but pay drivers and poster boys.

Giving Ralf a long term contract at that salary is insane.

Ralf Schumacher cannot be classed in the same league as pay-drivers such as Pedro Diniz. Ralf is at least in the top 10 f1 drivers!!

I never said he was. I put him in the poster boy category which is a seperate group from the pay drivers!!!!

Actually no. My opinion is based on my own observations. IF F1Racing is saying the same thing, then it is not only I that see things that way.

Schumacher will have accumulated upwards of $82m from Toyota by the end of the current five-year agreement.

Why is it that Jacques was smashed from pillar to post for his huge salary at BAR for meagre results, when Ralf is in an ideal situation, with less talent, better machinery and little in terms of achievements in comparison to JV's credentials?

I'm not saying JV salary, when he signed the second BAR deal, was justified, but neither is Ralf's current salary.

So what? Who do you think cares about if some person on a council estate typing away at his keyboard cares about what he thinks about somebody's remuneration?! Get a grip ol'boy.
