Fisi Eyes Ferrari 'myth'

Fisi eyes Ferrari 'myth'

F1's Roman, Giancarlo Fisichella, says his Ferrari dream is still alive. The Renault driver will stay put in 2006, but test driver Heikki Kovalainen is being groomed to move in as Fernando Alonso's future teammate. "I have a contract with Renault," a cagey Fisichella, 32, told Gazzetta dello Sport, "so my goal is to win the championship with them."

Despite obvious frustration with Maranello based Ferrari's modern policy to snub Italian drivers, however, he professes to still believe in scarlet magic. "In Italy, Ferrari is a myth," Fisichella enthused, "and I am Italian!' He said he would be 'interested' if Jean Todt knocked on his motor home.

But 'Fisi' also took a mild swipe at Ferrari's decision to hire Felipe Massa as a 2006 replacement for Rubens Barrichello. "He is a quick driver," Giancarlo said, "but when we were both at Sauber (in 2004), I was always ahead of him."

It's easy to talk about 2004 and Massa. But what about 2005? Fisico has been smashed by Alonso, but apparently his big ego survived. As for driving for Ferrari dream on buddy...

True... imagine what Fernando would do to Massa then ^_^

yes sadly for fisi, his 2005 season has taken away everyone's feeling that he was 1 of the fastest drivers. To claim back his reputation he'll have to push alonso much harder

i think once it was clear that alonso could win the WDC they just didnt really care if Fisi pushed him, they just wanted fisi infront of the maclariens

What happened to Fisi I thought he would do very well this season and he just kinda flopped. I think the pressure got to him. I mean he did well at Sauber Jordan Benetton but at Renault he had a brill Debut then disappeared.

fisi has been impressive every single year until 2005. He didnt appear pressuried cos he didnt really make mistakes - but he had a lot of bad luck with car troubles whilst his git team-mate had none at all

If anythink happenned bad in Renault in 2005, it was in Fissi's car.

With added trouble of having Alonso as his partner, it has taken a toll.

Hope he gives a fight in 2006.

Ferrari.... sittin in Renault u talk of Ferrari. :nono1: Is he kidding Renaults or pullin their leg  Last time it was car this time let it be not the driver :excl:

I dont know how many talked in F1 history like this, that too driving for a top team :excl:

Hope this is a slip of the tongue or mind :D or the man :D itself and Renaults forgives him.

Otherwise we will have Heikki Kovalainen drivin in the second half :D

Just wondering.... When was the last time an italian was with Ferrari?

I guess Ferrari is a "myth" to italians just as Renault is a "myth" for the french...

Nicola Larini, Imola 1994

Yes, and he (along with Mika Hakkinen) took Senna off at the first corner of the previous Grand Prix. Nicola was very apologetic though
