WHy not? Mclaren has at least three design teams, and countless new talents on board. Are you of the belief that there is only one talented designer in the world and that no one will ever follow him? OMG, I must say, you are indeed a kid with vision and a grasp on reality...

No thats not what I'm saying. But Newey is one of the best designers so it doesnt make sense to say that his departure would be a good thing for the team

Newey stayed with Mclaren for eight seasons, building four turkeys (00, 01, 02, 04) and four proper cars (98, 99, 03, 05). During these years he has had a platoon of apprentices whom some have bourne fruit and will now get to express their visions and ideas more freely. This can ofcourse go the way the hen kicks, but I'm going out on a limb and predict that it will be a new coming for Mclaren. TOTAL DOMINANCE THE REST OF THIS DECADE! :naughty:

the 00,01,02,04 mclarens werent turkeys, they were regular points scorers and were all race-winners, Hakkinen nearly won the title in the 00 car. Newey also designed the dominant williams-renaults. When he left williams, they went downhill and never came back to the same level

Ok, sorry, maybe the 00 was'nt a turkey, but I think the other three where. The 01 (compared to the benchmark which was Ferrari) was inferior although it won a couple of reaces, the 02 got raped by the Ferrari, and we are not even talking about 04 car (which in essence was the B,C and D of the 03 car).

We can argue until midway through 2007 (when the real effect of Neweys departure can be seen), but I still think it wont be anywhere near as dramatic as it was for Williams. I think it will be good for everyone at Paragon. Out with the old in with the new, its called progress.

If I recall correctly, Newey wasn't as responsible for the MP4-19 as he was for the other cars.

Yes, yes and yes.

But a bloody good team principle.

I suppose you're right! I would only be glad to see him in f1 if he was bringing in a new team
