Bit weird though to just come into f1 as a team, then 4 years later pull out!

It's happened before, and it will definitely happen again. Trouble is there aren't enough private teams these days.

Its amazing last night there was nothing to talk bout there was hardly no news and we was all busy slagging of BMW and Williams and Narain and it seemed testing was the only exciting thing to talk bout. Now look The possibilties are endless with this piece of news. I really hope Kimi and Fernando are at Mclaren in 07 (it will be Prost and Senna again ) As for Schumi he got to retire. He just wont be able to compete. 06 Is his last year I feel and who ever sed about Telefonica and Alonso I agree with ya I bet you he has hanged himself lol.

As of this news i have to say this was unexpected for time being, but not as much as for majority. Thing about Renault that only some seem to recall it has been long clear Renault will not pay big salaries to his drivers (kinda like Williams?), so it might be Alonso (and Briatore as his Manager) wants both good car and Excellent salary.

Concerning Kimi it is too early to say anything, he should defeat Alonso 2007 if stays, but 2008 would be the real Thriller if both stay there in that year. Same reasoning why i am expecting 2006 to be much closer between KR and JPM.

as i said before, mclaren know somthing we dont, and alonso know's somthing we dont. Kimi will be off to ferrari in 2007, renault could well pull out and ms will retire! So we will have in 2007 alonso in a mclaren v kimi in a ferrari v button in a Honda! Im looking forward to 2007 now

My point was given KR earlier history at Mclaren it is quite likely that he will have better season overall than Alonso. It would be unfair towards Alonso to expect him clearly beat KR in the first season. The season after that is a season i would not dare to say who wins.

Your telling your telling me Montoya is professional who is "overweight" for F1 who missed a few races cos of an accident and punching camera men etc as for Kimi who I heard drinks "ALOT" and find himself in bed with another women everynight even though he is married. I mean they are great drivers but i dont think they are "extremely" professional.

By definition, "professional" relates only to those activities that are related to one's carreer - while your comments about JPM might not be entirely off the mark, what Kimi chooses to do outside of his Merc is really no ones business but his wife's. As long as he keeps giving it all he has in practice and the races, meets his promotional obligations and stays in shape, he's doing a professional job.

I got the news with a text on my phone and I literally jumped out of bed.

Alonso, the sneaky little thing, has pulled of a true switcharoo that any politician would have been proud of; fast, surprising and the team he's going to aint half bad.

Kimi is not going to stay at McLaren so anyone thinking of a Kimi/Alonso pairing think again.

Why?

(1) Money. While not impossible, paying Kimi and Alonso would seriously dent that new wad of cash from Vodafone.

(2) Kimi and McLaren. Basically Kimi feels his team cost him the Championship. Not exactly the greatest and most amicable relationship

(3) MOST IMPORTANTLY, Alonso's character would have dictated him to demand that in his contract he is payed more than Kimi and will be given number 1 driver status. Payed equal and shared number 1 positioning implies that they are equal in ability; Alonso will feel he's won a world championship and deserves more and Kimi, like everyone else in F1 with half a brain knows he's better that Alonso anyway.

So with the history of rumours Kimi off to Ferrari is a 80% probability.

So that (ruling out a switch to Red Bull or some other team) means Schumi's career is at an end.

I am going to feel very sad today. Although he is hated by a fair few, underrated by some (senna saying Alonso and Kimi have surpassed him, please Senna I know you have a lot of respect on this forum but I find that to be a comment more in alignment with this season, rather than the 5 preceeding it) and to have a driver like that leave the sport is just a sad thought. It's also sad how many people wont see this as a sad thing because as controversial and hated as he is, it is never nice to see a driver pass into retirement.

Giancarlo Minardi wanted FA and Gene in the cars in the year 2001 but Telefonica (main Minardi sponsor that year) prefered Gene and Mazzacane... Why? Mazzacane is argentinian and Telefonica is the most important phone company there.

You have got a point there but I dont think those drivers a extremely professional just professional. I mean I just hope Kimi doesnt let his party lifestyle ruin him. I mean I dont think Ferrari will like that (but I bet Red Bull would). But maybe Ferrari have seen something in him I mean Ferrari have been very good with their driver decisions for driver number 1. And plus Im sure they once said that Alonso is good but they prefer Kimi as they think hes better. As for Monty he got the "weight" problem under control well i think anyways. I mean I know I said he was over-weight for F1 but I dont think he is. Just alot of the press and so on say he is. So I put that down and the accident well was his fault IMO but he should be more careful next time (cos Ron wouldnt like it if he done it again).

If Kimi goes to Ferrari in 2007 and Michael leaves at the end of 2007 and they both race together as team mates and not forgetting Michael Schumacher retiring on top of his game with the drivers and constructors titles in his pocket then I will be very happy with Schumacher and the team for allowing Michael to have his last year pairing with an absolutely amazing driver, Kimi Raikkonen.
