BradSpeedMan 6 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 There have been rumours (and i stress rumours) that if South Africa fail to poperly prepare for thw World Cup (eg stadiums not ready) then the World Cup will go to Australia. These are only rumours. Yes, thats why i'm mentioned it. Don't forget, we've hosted the Rugby World Cup in the nineties also. I've got confidence we've got the ability to host, but the unprofessional way they're going about it makes me downright nervous, we're waaayyyyy behind schedule. cavallino 2 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 That's impressive, I didn't know the Telstra stadium is that big, ifthere is a decent international there in the near future I'll try and go.
ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 That's impressive, I didn't know the Telstra stadium is that big, ifthere is a decent international there in the near future I'll try and go. Telstra stadium used to be called Stadium Australia during the 2000 Olympics and i think it held nearly 100000 people. But after the Olympics they removed some of the seats and Telstra bought it. nojvnof1 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Zidane is an a##! all of France can blame him for the loss I disagree. France and Italy were fairly evenly matched in the first half but France dominated in the second and should have capitalised then, just as Australia should have done against a 10 man Italy. However, the Italian defence is so strong that it was close to impenetrable all tournament and I couldn't see France scoring from regular play. Zidane going off certainly helped Italy, but he went off with about 8 minutes to go in extra time, so not a major loss. Sure he would have taken a penalty himself, so it's anyones guess as to what would have happened, but to blame it all on Zidane is wrong. As for Zidane's headbutt, well it was rather stupid however, if it is true about what Materazzi said to him and the way he kept going on and on, then I think most of us would have lost our cool. As Zizou himself said, you hear it once, twice you walk away, but third time, it's enough. I don't condone what he did, but I see why he did it. Anyways, congrats to Italy, well deserved champions of the World, even if the rankings don't show it. They were the best team all tournament and deserve their 4th title, even if I have to begrudingly say that after what happened against Australia As for Australia hosting the World Cup, we've definitely got the facilities and stadia to host it in four years time, but there are one or two problems. One is the fact that June and July is right in the middle of the "football" (AFL, Rugby League) seasons and I can't see them handing over the stadiums to the World Cup and taking the month off, unless they start a month early, or end the season a month later and take a 4 week mid season break. It could happen, but I think South Africa will host the Cup and do a good job.
cavallino 2 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Next time Australian cricketers start their racist sledging, someone should punch them on the face. I'll watch people flip sides pretty quickly then. Zizou is an idiot. As one of his long time fans that is all I can say.
ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Next time Australian cricketers start their racist sledging, someone should punch them on the face. The Australian cricketers are known for sledging but only 2 players in the moden game have ever made Racist comments (Shane Warne and Darren Lehman). Most of the cricketers sledging has nothing to do with race.
cavallino 2 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Two too many.
ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Two too many. I know and if i had it my way neither of them would be in the team as they are racist yobbo's. Stuart Mcgill is a far better spin bowler than Shane Warne and Darren Lehman isnt much of a player either.

cavallino 2 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 ok, in that case fair enough, as long as you are consistent. By the way this is far from the first time Zidane has lost his cool and done something stupid, so it isn't a case of 'he's usually a nice person, but he went too far far'. ykickamoocow 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Indeed, SA WILL sort it out & host a super World Cup... I hope so. One serious plus is the fact that the South African FIFA World Cup will be on at much better times than the last one. I didnt enjoy getting up at 1:30am to watch a football match. Karta 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2006 At least a couple if hours east I think. Not really, it is relatively same time zone in SA as Europe. Might be +1 or at most +2 to Germany time zone, but not more. That is why i like SA far more than Australia hosting it
