LanEvo03 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 I've been trying to search everywhere for links or articles concerning the fitness programs that F1 drivers go through to stay in shape. Aside from a few articles and team sites, there was nothing really worthwhile that came up. I was wondering if anyone else had more info about this or knew what kind of programs they train through to get to the mental/physical state to drive F1 cars. Not that I will ever be driving a formula one car anytime soon, , I'm just interested in what it takes to get to that level.

I know that Alex Tagliani rides his stationary for 4 hours in the am, everyday, and I've seen clips of Alonso in the gym during all sorts of core muscle workouts. Hi, This might give a good over-view of what they go through: http://www.mclaren.com/features/driver/drive_for_fitness.php Over 16+ pages of Red Bull team workouts: http://www.motorsport.com/photos/select.as..._from_Australia What Michael goes through...: http://sport.rtl.de/formel-1/com/mscom_40624.php Hope I helped. EDIT: I've searched alot too, that is the most detailed information you can get. Although, Ill ask my friends.
LanEvo03 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2006 Thanks for the last 2 links. Havent seen those yet. From what ive found, it looks like the training program is mainly focused on endurance with some light lifting. I know I've read in one article that they focus mainly on the upper body, like shoulders and neck, and focus on the forearms as well. I've been trying to maintain a similar training program myself, but the time differences are way off. Theres no way i could afford to spend 3 hrs on a stationary bike, then lift afterwards. That just goes to show you how much effort these drivers go through to be ready to race. I would like to see how other drivers in other racing series compare to that of F1 drivers. I mean, hell, even the test drivers must be as shrap as a knife to drive these machines.

Loser Boy 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 The drivers who are playboys (no taking names here) have no exercise regimen. A daily romp in the bed keeps them fighting fit.
