Help

Recommended Posts

I need a race to go to next year. On Friday, the fate of the USGP will be announced. Bernie and TG are still making phone calls about it, so it's not set yet, and I don't think it ever will be. Any help of which race to go to is appreciated.

Canadian GP: This is probably the best to attend as an alternative because it's F1. However, getting to Canada's gunna be reaaaaallly hard since I can't fly at the time because of money...and it's one long-a## drive. (You could mention it's about the same distance to Indy in a car...but tickets are cheaper at Indy so I might've been able to fly)

Champ Car Grand Prix of Quebec: Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant is a beautiful track and CCWS racing is great. It's close to Montreal, so I'd just stay in the city. It also might be cheaper than a Grand Prix, which means maybe I could fly.

Champ Car Grand Prix of Toronto: Closest to me of the Canadian events. I hear Toronto's a great city and like I said CCWS racing is great.

Pennsylvania 500 NASCAR @ Pocono: I've gone many years and always enjoyed it. It's easy to drive to, but it is NASCAR, which isn't my favorite thing in the world. This race also might get cancelled. I also wanted to try an open wheel race for the first time. This is a worst-case I can't go to anything else.

IndyCar at The Glen: Close. It's the Glen. IndyCar on a road course is rad. I like the sounds of this one. However, it's not near a city, and my friends/family will not travel with me unless we have a major city to stay in (or a nice resort like in Pocono)

Thanks in advance.

Went to the NASCAR/Rolex race at the "GLEN" last year Had to stay in Binghamton, N.Y.. You might find something closer for just the Rolex 6 hour race or *barf* the gIRL race.

You could always head north up to Montreal every year to watch many drivers crash into the Wall of Champions!

That seemed like the best alternative race-wise, but money-wise seemed like it wouldn't work.

I don't even know if I could see the Wall of Champions, I'd probably sit in the hairpin, from what I've heard you can see the most from there if you sit up top in the grandstand.

Head out west; several of us hooked up at the CCWS race in Vegas this year; safe to say we had a blast (there are photos floating around somewhere), the only problem was finding a place to watch F1 quali on Friday night, but we succeeded in that, too...

Ditto that. The Vegas race will be an annual pilgrimage for me. We must get back to that sports bar we found to watch F1....cute barmaids.

Agreed. And, surprisingly, I remember how to get there...

You're coming with us to that bar next year, Bruce!

And I should add, in addition to the cute barmaids, and unlike much of the rest of Vegas, they have a good beer selection...

While we're at it, we need to find that Chicago brewpub, too...

Well, I didn't check but I wonder if they had that yellow water Bruce likes to drink... :P

All bars have that. All it takes to make is a horse ...

Hey guys, I own a bar in Vegas at the Venetian so you're always welcome to come watch the races there. Hell, I'll even pour you a drink on the house! I always insist on playing F1 on the tv even though most of the customers complain. (Fvck 'em - when they own a bar, they can watch wha they want.) :mf_tongue:

God I wish we had known that when we got there ... You should've seen me in the hotel room with the Yellow Pages Thursday night:

Phone: Ring ... Ring ...

Barmaid: <insert bar name here>

Me: Do you get Speed TV, and can we get you to put it on around 10:00 pm?

Barmaid: What? What channel? Let me check ... No

Me: ...

<repeat 10 times>

Now, if I can just remember in nearly a year's time to look you up then...

Excellent! :clap3: None of my friends (except one) follow F1. Any time one of you guys is in the neighborhood, let me know. I'll host an F1 party. Everytime Ferrari has a quickest sector time will be a round on the house! :king: (Excluding my premium single malts - we'll save that for the victories.) LOL

I might be in Vegas foe my 21st b'day party so I can go bankrutp & end up street racing for money in whatever car I get when I pass my drivers license! PS2 has given me a racing pedigree so I should easily pass & possibly bump into your bar Minchia (if it's still there for another 8 years).

Maybe if we're all lucky Bernie will take F1 to Las Vegas and we can have a right proper party!

That would be pretty cool. However, I think Bernie's done with the US for a while, and races on the East coast put the races on in prime-time in Europe.
