"You just don't mess with Jacques Villeneuve" - Murray Walker, 1997 Hungarian GP.
"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve
"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve
The Nojvnof1 2006 driver lineup - Jacques Villeneuve, Nico Rosberg, Christian Klein, Scott Speed.

The Masters have returned.
"People were being killed left, right and center back then," [Phil Hill] says. "I became hyper-sensitive to the danger, and wasn't sure that I wasn't going to kill myself. As a result, racing brought out the worst in me. Without it, I don't know what kind of person I might have become. But I'm not sure I liked the person I did become, because I was selfish, irritable and defensive."

I agree. Good recall, mate.
In the strongest man, there's a child so weak.
In the whole wide world, there's no magic place.
So you might as well rise, put on your bravest face.
Though we might have precious little...
It's still precious.

Senna was the daddy on rain/wet tracks
I can't think of any recent (post Senna) driver that is/was as dominant as he was on such terrible conditions

Nevertheless, you're clearly correct, Verstappen at Sepang 2001 was a blindingly brilliant lap, and required far more courage, commitment, and sustained skill to overtake that many cars in far more extreme conditions than Senna faced at Donington Park, but the myth makers and nostaglists among us insist on holding up a single event to immortalize the legend of Senna's great wet-weather triumphs.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting that Senna wasn't very likely the greatest wet-weather and/or dry weather driver in the history of the sport (in all likelihood he was), but Verstappen was also extremely well rated as a first lap phenom, and never-more-so than in terrible conditions such as they had in Maylaysia 2001. His opening lap that day outshines Senna's Donnington first lap for pure excitement and overtaking genius, but over the totality of their career, I think it is largely without debate that Senna was the greatest wet weather specialist that F1 has ever seen.
But just don't expect "our" Senna to engage in any debate he might risk losing - his ego simply couldn't take it.........

JV - Oct 25, 1997 - after Saturday Practice in the final round of the 1997 championship at Jerez, Spain. The next day would prove just how far Schumi was willing to go...................

Read my post again. I am not avoiding the issue at all. I simply don’t think it’s possible to determine what the best ever start in F1 history was and it seems a rather futile activity anyway.
