"You just don't mess with Jacques Villeneuve" - Murray Walker, 1997 Hungarian GP.
"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve
"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve
The Nojvnof1 2006 driver lineup - Jacques Villeneuve, Nico Rosberg, Christian Klein, Scott Speed.

Mark Webber was joined by his new teammate, Alexander Wurz for the third day of testing for the Cosworth powered WilliamsF1 team at the Jerez circuit on Friday, the Australian and Austrian concluding the Grove based squad’s first official test of 2006.
Between them the two men clocked up a total of 72 laps, 61 of which were completed by Webber due to a few issues on Wurz’s contender. However, in the eleven laps he did manage to complete, Alex set a time four tenths slower than Webber and is now looking forward to returning to the test track next week to hopefully pick up where he left off alongside Nico Rosberg.
“Mark and Alex drove today, finishing the first test of 2006. We covered good mileage with Mark's car and tested some tyres for Bridgestone at the same time,” explained Sam Michael. “Unfortunately, however, we had some reliability problems on Alex's car that resulted in limited track time for him today. We will now review these faults and return to Jerez next week with Nico and Alex.”
“Cosworth’s test objectives for Jerez were to accumulate track miles and collect feedback from the drivers on some of the latest specification CA2006 components and systems,” added Simon Corbyn, Head of F1 Race Engineering, Cosworth. “Overall, progress with the engine is good and we are working hard to finalise the engine specification for the initial races. Driver feedback on engine performance continues to be very positive. Unfortunately, we did suffer an engine failure this afternoon and are now working through possible solutions to the problem.”

McLaren’s Pedro de la Rosa topped the times as this week’s Jerez test came to an end on Saturday.
Only three drivers were present as Michelin carried out wet-weather tyre testing on artificially soaked track (albeit with additional help from Mother Nature).
De la Rosa completed some 101 laps in a V10-engined MP4-20 and wound up more than a second faster than Honda’s Rubens Barrichello.
The Brazilian, who only began testing with his new team this week, spent the day getting used to Michelin’s wet tyres and brought out the day’s only red flag when his car stopped on the circuit.
Christian Klien propped up the time sheets in Red Bull’s new RB2.
Testing at Jerez recommences next Tuesday.
Saturday testing times from Jerez
1. DE LA ROSA McLaren 1m28.451s
2. BARRICHELLO Honda 1m29.617s
3. KLIEN Red Bull 1m29.842s

On Monday Michael Schumacher began to work with Ferrari's new F2006 car at Fiorano, Italy. The shakedown of the car went without any major problems. There weren't any official times released but according to Italian media Schumacher's lap time was less than one minute.
The F2006's performance, fitted with a V8 engine, was good. Fiorano's lap record is 55.9 seconds and set in 2004.
The F2006 covered 33 laps in the morning. The only problem that halted the test in the afternoon, after 45, laps was a problem that looked like a fuel problem. Schumacher stopped at the straight and couldn't go any further.

Red Bull clarifies overheating issues
The Red Bull Racing team had their first test session of the year last week in Jerez and certain news hungry (ie desperate for a story) media soon latched on to the fact that RB2 had a few teething problems but, to put the record straight, the overall feeling from four days in Spain was positive.
“By the end of the test, we had completed some valuable mileage with RB2 and after some initial teething problems were pleased with the initial feedback,” said Sporting Director Christian Horner.
The RB2’s Silverstone shakedown in December and this latest test did show up a cooling problem and although it required some field-surgery with extra holes cut in the bodywork, it is not seen as an inherent weakness.
“The car is very much an interim machine in terms of its aerodynamic package,” continued Horner. “The whole point of getting our new car out so early was to learn as much as possible about running with a V8 engine well before the start of the season. On that front, we are very pleased with the job that Ferrari is doing. We always knew that the lessons learnt by running the car early would be worth a bit of pain and overall I’d say it’s looking very encouraging.”

Circuit debut of the BMW Sauber team
Nick Heidfeld puts the F1.06 though its paces
At 1.20 pm today Nick Heidfeld drove the very first lap with the BMW Sauber F1.06 at the Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo. After this installation lap he returned to the garage for the usual checks before continuing to clock up a total of 29 laps at this systems check.
"I have been much more nervous than before any other roll-out I have experienced because this is a bigger and long-term programme, and I feel so much passion for this project," said Heidfeld. "The first laps with the BMW Sauber F1.06 were absolutely trouble free, and to begin with I used intermediate tyres as the track was still damp in places. After this first experience I am really looking forward to the forthcoming test days, as we continue to work further in order to find out where we are."
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen explained: "The initial roll-out is the most exciting moment of the year for the engineers. After some nine months of development and simulation we could finally run the car in real time for the first time and get feedback from the driver. We are very pleased that this first day of systems checking ran so smoothly. That’s a good beginning. Now the car is gaining momentum and getting faster and faster with every lap."
Shortly after the BMW Sauber F1.06´s installation lap it was Jacques Villeneuve´s turn to drive the interim car C24B/BMW P86. The Canadian reported: “the gearbox had a hiccough and stuck in first gear on my first lap.” As a result the rear end overheated, causing the engine cover to smoke as Villeneuve arrived back at the pits. The electronic error was soon sorted out, and Villeneuve was able to continue.
Heidfeld did a total of 29 laps with the BMW Sauber F1.06, with a fastest time of 1:13.430s. Villeneuve drove 50 laps to record a 1:14.037s best. The BMW Sauber F1 Team continues testing in Valencia with both cars until and including Thursday.

Considering this is my first post I would first like to say that there is some great insight on this forum and Im glad to be a part of it. Im a fairly new fan (since '03) but just as fanatical as everyone here.
It seems that the Mclarens are still running their V10 today. It looks very good in the Toyota camp if the Mclarens V10s are still unrestricted.
