Blur were a great band, I was one of them peoplewho prefered them over Oasis. Prodigy are absoutely fantastic, and great live aparently, love it whenever a club plays one of their songs though I have never really liked Firstarter that much, I think nearly al their other songs are better. I only like 1 or 2 Depeche Mode songs, don't think too mcuh of them really. Though at the moment other than the group all you seem to despise (yet music critics think they are geniuses! (not just cos they are fit!)) I'm listening to stuff like The Kooks, I brought that MIKA dudes album the other day too but don't like it, it's a bit too random for my liking, he sounds in a way like freddie mercury but far camper and the songs are a bit too odd. I don't mind razorlight at the moment too, though the second album isnt as good as their first has to be said and America realy isnt the best song on the album. Who else do I like at the moment? Pendulum are great, if you guys like D&B then check them out, they are doing a gig at our Union next friday, should be good stuff.

Other than that can't really think whatelse at the mo.

And whoever told me to shag a boy in a toilet, it wasnt a boy, but a lass! I also walked in on 2 blokes doing coke in the toilets of this bar we went in last night!

Is this some animal rights song that i missed? Mika is overrated and his album is appalling, too random, as you say. Please tell me where i can read that a worthy music critic has stated that Girls Aloud are geniuses, i would like to read that. If you shagged a girl in a toilet, that makes you a slag. A filthy one at that. Unless she was fit of course.

Firstarter? It's a song about the Forestry Commission. Maybe. Sort of a sequel to the Lumberjack Song.

On the multi changer: Grandaddy, Steve Hackett, The Stranglers, New Model Army, Midnight Oil and The Move.

In the glovebox: Procol Harum, Sigur Ros, John Fogerty, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Good choice

PETER GARRETT for Prime Minister :D

Yep. He seems to be doing pretty well, even though I don't follow Oz politics. Pity he had to bugger up the band though.

Yeah, at the moment he is the Shadow Enviroment Minister so he is quite involved in politics at the moment. I am really hopeful that in afew years time he will be Australia's Prime Minister as i do agree with most of his political philosophies.

Heres a review from the guardian of one of their songs...

Girls Aloud

Something Kinda Oooh (Fascination)

OK, so it's not Biology, but given that Biology is the best pop single of the last decade, that's no reason to be giving it the high hat. What it is, is an effortlessly lascivious, ecstatic 198 seconds of thundering medium-NRG brimming with the Alouds' trademark nonsense lyrics (what "something kinda oooh/jumping on my tutu" means, we may never know, although it seems to suggest a ballerina being menaced by a spider) and synth stabs employed as cudgels. It's been said before, but they are one presentation of Nicola Roberts' P45 away from being a truly great band.

From the times of their greatest hits compilation...

GIRLS ALOUD

The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits

Fascination/Polydor FASC017

Three studio albums and already releasing The Greatest Hits: cheek or chutzpah? Well, both, but no other best-of release this Christmas, with the exception of the Clash singles box, comes close to the genius in evidence here. The mere thought of pursed-lipped purists squealing when Girls Aloud are deemed to have value is reason enough to buy this and laud it. Yet it

Did anyone watch the Brits last night, they were pretty Sh#t from what i've heard. They no longer have enough variety, it's literally all rock/indie bands. They really need to bring in a couple of award like best rnb, best pop and something like best vocal. WHere the Grammy's are far too long and tedious, at least they have a complete variety of awards, the Brits just seem far too limited nowadays!

I just worked out from Girls Aloud's studio albums they ave done a total of 43 songs and only 4 of them are covers, and inclue i think we're alone now which is o the greatest hits that 5 out of 44. Thats not as much as i thought lol since everyones main criticism of them is that they only do covers. Clearly they dont!

Oh I went out and brought Amy Winehouse's album today and I must say it is excellent, a must buy!

Ah, Procol Harum! I have my selection of PH songs somewhere in my hard disk. I recall those times when composing and arranging songs was more important than looks.

3 broadsheets, all very positive about them! So surely if respectable broadsheets hype them up they cant be that bad!

Sorry, i read it twice but still couldn't see the word 'geniuses'. Must get my eyes tested.

Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Buscemi, Alec Guiness and Frodo. No wonder they sound so unconventional.

Well they have been called it, couldnt find the exact review but they have also been called the saviours of pop music. But anyway thats my GA defence over with here.

JUst wondering can any of you suggest bands that havn't become huge yet that you think are worth checking out, the first few months of the year always seem boring as not a lot of new talent appears yet!

If you want to talk about good music you can't leave out Led Zeppelin, Queen, REM, Marillion or Goo Goo Dolls. B)

A lot of the music I listen to was created before I was! :o

Try 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley. It's a gem. He's dead so he won't get any bigger. Also, 'Five Leaves Left' by Nick Drake is a wonderful album. He's dead too.
