Fernando Alonso will not apologise for giving 'the finger' to anyone who annoys him on the Formula One track, the Spaniard said at Germany's Hockenheimring.

"I don't think about it before I do it," he told People magazine. "No-one's going to stop me letting out my emotions."

F1 spectators gasped when the 22-year-old unfurled his middle finger for Ralf Schumacher before the wrecked Renault had even finished crashing at Monaco.

"I knew I was safe," he said, "and wanted him to know what I thought."

Alonso also claimed if he was sitting in Rubens Barrichello's sister Ferrari, "I could beat [Michael] Schumacher. He is just a driver like everyone else"

I don

Well apparently Rubens IS doing a good job.....of making sure Michael wins his 7th?? world title... He is also occupying the seat instead of allowing better driver (or rather agressive driver who can refuse second class treatment) to have a go at chasing Michael..

I think that would certainly qualify as doing A PERFECT JOB...what more can he ask???

If M Shumacher is arrogant he has done more than enough to justify it.But what about this little brat of Alonso. Sure Fernando Michael is just another driver that won only 80 grand prix and smashed nearly all records to pieces. As for your finger, I have a good idea Fernando ...stick it up your own a****

First of all, if anyone had any idea of racing they would know that anyone that gets in the way of anyone gets the finger or the w**k. It doesn't mean that they think any less of the other person, it just is racing aggression, so if Fernando is in a position to which he is being compromised then yes he would give the finger. To whoever, and worry about it later.

Secondly, MICHAEL SCHUMACHER IS NO WHERE NEAR ARROGANT!

Has anyone on here actually met him? I have, and he is the nicest person you could want to meet. And that's not just because I am a big fan.

When we went to silverstone, we waited outside the hotel, where the drivers stay overnight. We saw most of the drivers, Montoya (Monw#nker) didn't even lift his head up to anyone, Gene only said one person to come over and that was a kid (who is he anyway) Trulli and Alonso drove past from around the back of the hotel. Da Matta stuck his head out the door then went back in and waited for his drive. Panis actually came over and signed about two things. Jean Todt actually came over and signed a load of things that we had.

Michael, well he came out from round the back of the hotel, driving his own car. He stopped where we all were, wound his window down and stopped until all of us had got something signed, and that was on race day. How arrogant is that??????? NOT!!!!! He is the only one that seriously didn't have to do that, and yet he did. So he is so far from arrogant it is unbelievable.

Have any of you lot actually done any form of motorsport? Or do you just watch it and judge the rest of them?

Any takers?

Always Schumi

Shar

I remember a lot of "hand signals" of pilots to other ones, even I have watched fights with Piquet and other lapped pilot.

The emotions are difficult to hide here, they are to concentrated, they are risking their lives remember, not just drinking tea.

although now the cars are easier to drive (imagine Button trying to drive with just one hand the 80

Ferrari were 3rd in the constructors in 95 and had won atleast one race i can recall (canada 95, alesi) and were already on the improve. Thats like saying Mark joining Williams now, if he wins the WDC in the next 5 years he is of MS quality, it took ms 5 years to win in ferrari. maybe it should be 6 or 7 years for webber, because williams are 4th now, maybe 5th by end of season.

at times, the reliability of the '96 Ferrari made BAR's record pretty respectable, that many things went so wrong, so early ie. Warm Up Lap - Blown engine in France!!!!

That comment is ignoring a whole bunch of other factors. Even if Webber is 2005 DWC, that in itself is not enough to say he is better than MS, Senna, Prost, Clark..., who all took longer to take a DWC.

You mean McLaren's record, right?

For a year, yes McLaren, but the probs with Ferrari back then made the probs BAR had from 99 til now look not that bad, at least a BAR hasn't blown an engine on a warm up lap, which is what that Ferrari did in '96!!
