Villeneuve Signs With Sauber for 2005

Recommended Posts

I havent seen this on any sites yet, but I thought I would post it here until it becomes general knowledge. I just got confirmation from Sauber that Jacques Villeneuve will be racing for them in 2005...

Here is what Jacques had to say about it...

"I am extremely excited to be back in Formula One with the Sauber Petronas Team, and I appreciate the confidence everybody is showing in me. It is my goal to work with Peter and his team to bring them forward in the championship during the next two seasons. In my recent visit to Sauber I have been extremely impressed by the professionalism which is apparent throughout the factory. I am looking forward to seeing the results that will be developed by the state-of-the-art wind tunnel."

8) Pit Pass just posted this also! I must say this will make for an interesting '05. All of you JV fans must be leaping in the streets, now to see how Sauber steps up, Ferrari eng. and trans their first fresh design using the wind tunnel, could be a rather exciting time in Hinwell!! now it's only to see if he'll get his feet wet with Renault for the rest of the year as his new Sauber deal is from November 1 '04

I told you all that JV would be driving in F1 next year and some of you kept saying that you thought F1 had seen the last of JV, how wrong you were! Further more, if JV gets the Renault drive for the remaining three races that will be a great bonus and it will enable us to have one last look at JV in a good car before he joins Sauber. It will also give him experience of the new track in China. I

Everything is now alright. JV has returned and my interest in F1 has been rekindled. I have always liked the Sauber team. The fact that he may very well get to drive a Renault for a few races is icing on the cake. A very good day for JV fans.

a question ? so JV drives for Renault for a few races BEFORE going to Sauber next year.

Me thinks he COULD take a lot of ideas to Sauber after his Renault drive !!

Is this a good proposition for Renault ??

My interest has been rekindled. I was very put off by DR and the BAR team. DR almost personally destroyed a true talent. I am very happy that Button also saw the light. Some people are gentleman, some are not. I am happy that JV has a chance to leave F1 in the manner in which he raced.

Ah but one element is constantly overlooked. What of Hakkinen? He's let it out he wants to go back. Could Hakkinen sign with the team Button isn't on? hmmm, interesting.

EDIT: Great to see you admin.

As grandprix.com say, WHAT A COMEBACK. Only a driver like Jacques could sign two contracts in one day. As I've been saying along, Id more than happy for JV to race for Sauber. As he said, he hopes to grow with them and hope for something special to happen. When JV states Sauber was the only team to respect him, I more than believe him. I'm pretty sure Williams messed him about (all to do with Sam Michael, he's pro-Webber, and is basically running the show, ah well, MW $hit himself when he saw M$ in his mirrors at Monza, so if thats what they want, they can have him). JV will learn from Sauber and Sauber from JV. JV is a new man going by his comments after testing and heaped big praise on Alonso and stated he wants to learn from him, he really really has changed, and for the better. JV wants to go to a team where he doesn't have to look over his shoulder all the time, something he would have been doing at BAR or Williams.

Taku, it's ok, Im back!!:lol: Now, I need a new nick, will I be able to keep my profile when I change my nick, sometime in the next two weeks?

I have been wondering about that too. 3WDCs in 2005. Three to tangle. Excellent. But it does look like Bernie's wish is gonna come true. :D

Hopefully JV signing for Sauber will silence the prats who claimed JV was dumped for salary demands, he definately will not be on a big money deal at Sauber.
