How foolish of them! Clearly, they should have brough in someone with no management credentials and no F1 experience.

Honda could learn a few lessons from this

And Toyota has questionable management as well!

Haha, I think the common factor between these teams is an emphasis on marketing rather than performance. Witness: BAR's decision to run Sato, Toyota's to hire Schumacher, and Red Bull's expected decision to replace DC with Liuzzi/Klien.

Indeed.

Clutching at straws? The glory days seem so long ago. First Patrick Head takes a back seat, and now this. It will be some time before they are a credible challenger again, methinks.

It would seem so although Williams have proven in the past that they can regain their old form at times

Although that is true the consistency seems to have been lost, as might be expected with such reshuffles. I do not deny that they will challenge again, just that it may take a while for this to come to fruition.

Hence I said at times

With very stiff competition from Mclaren, Toyota, Renault and even BAR (recently), their prospects do not look good... Much less so, when you consider the rumours that instead of increasing their investment in the team, BMW may be leaving to bolster what would become a competitor.

I will post my thoughts regarding that on the appropriate thread.

Or that Michelin can make it seem so...

True, but Williams were the quickest Michelin team for a while which does show that they can produce a good car at times.

just my 2 cents worth but Maybe M.Weber / N.Heindfeld really do have a strugle to prove their worth with the car.. If it takes all this OFFICE re-organising to make the car quicker ? I would have thought better designers/ engineers/ specialists in wind tunnel type staff more appropriate then a few more "SEAT POLISHERS" on no dobt very substantial salaries :D

My take is Williams are preparing for a life after BMW

Williams have the experience ie learning from previous mistakes and I doubt any decision they make to change a part in the team is a rushed one. They have admitted where the fault lies and not blamed the drivers, so hopefully that means they can address the situation.

Williams have made a great many mistakes in recent years on all fronts. I doubt anyone with any gumption would say that Webber and Heidfeld are excellent driver choices

They are not the only ones and other teams are currently making mistakes. You may not think they are great drivers, but Williams think so and they are famous for telling it how it is with their drivers - spare no critism. They may have fallen back, but they can quickly regain that, which is shown by teams such as Mclaren and BAR. They have had huge setbacks with radical designs that never worked, who could forget that walrus nose? Williams are a top team and will soon be back at the front.

Williams tried to sign Jenson and then Davidson. Heidfeld was not the automatic second choice and neither he nor Webber has proven anything in an F1 car hitherto. Furthermore, Sir Frank has become notorious for making poor driver selection choices in the recent past. Finally, Williams were a top team nearly a decade ago, not now, and have shown little indication that they will soon return to their old form.

2003 and they were not a top team?

Ok so you cannot imply that the car is no good and then say the drivers are no good because they do not have good results. If the car is no good as you say then the Williams shouldn't be getting the good results. The car did not like Imola at all, it handled like a dog on the kerbs, but the Williams showed better pace in the races before and with the improvements they say are on the way shortly, and some this race I am confident they will go back to their old form.
