Teammate Wars: British Gp

In Canada, the forum decided the point should have gone to Webber, so how come you didn't change it, else what was the point of the poll?

The result of that poll was surprising and disappointing. Surprising because reason dictated that Nick should have taken the points, disappointing because I had hoped the forum had the sense to realize it. I will however change the point for you, because you care, but I suspect you are rather lonely in this regard. There is nothing to choose in that battle and this combined with the fact that the cars are performing so poorly makes it uninteresting...

Well if there was nothing to choose then don't give the point to anyone.

I mean over the course of the whole season... Webber and Heidfeld are evenly matched. Webber is a better qualifier but Heidfeld is a better racer but it all evens out by the end of the race.

Surely the point of team-mate wars is to assess their respective performances, not merely to repeat who actually was most successful on one particular weekend?

Well at one point Nick looked to have the edge over Webber, but now it seems Webber is slowly getting the edge, maybe he can just get that little more out of a undriveable car after being at Minardi.

I guess that is what I am saying Murray. I missed the point of this team war thread, and am scratching my head now trying to think of the relevance of the thread.  The outcome of the weekend is what goes down in the record books.  As most drivers will tell you, they like to do their talking on the track. There are so many things that effect the outcome of a race, and qualifying for that matter, in today's F1 that this will be a very subjective debatable thread with no clear definitive answer in most cases.

i.e  Montoya clearly won the race, and now here we are debating the obvious with personal subjective view points. In this example  JPM drove a fautless race and won.  In my opinion how can you possibly give the weekend over to KR even though he drove a spectacular race to move up from the back of the grid.

Is it any less spectaciur to drive a perfect race and win?????  As I mentioned if you have the race in control and are leading, then it is not neccesary to drive any more aggressively. Maybe if Kimi learned this he would do even better.

When MS was winning his titles his fastest laps were his pit in laps.  Why???  Because this is all he needed to do to win.  He didn't push himself or his car like that through the whole race.  If the other teams would have been more competitive then  he would have needed to race harder, but the fact is he only drove fast enough to win.  In this regard he was a master.

Yes, I see what you're saying. However, we disagree on the usefulness of this thread. Bajo starts it after every race to discuss the relative performances of all the team-mates. As I see it there are 2 points here:

1) Do the points achieved on the weekend really represent the relative performances?

2) Did KR do better than JPM last time out?

Imo the answer to the first is that the points surely do not tell the whole story. Of course going beyond that is subjective but that does not make it uninteresting or invalid. At the end of the day, everything in life is subjective but we all still have strong opinions on, say, religion. I think its important to try to guage the performances of the team-mates each week because it gives a clear picture after a while of the season. As a fan do you not have an opinion on who is better?

As for the second I would give the weekend to KR mainly because he out-qualified JPM with more fuel but that is a secondary issue.
