Well clearly the BAR will be going out on a high note this year after such a torrid first half to the season, but how high, do you think they and Button are capable of a win in the closing stages. It is becoming clear now they are catching renault extremely quickly and could possibly overtake them in the next 1-2 races in performance stakes, however to win a race? Will this happen, I predict yes, so long as the Mclarens have failures/problems! If you do vote yes, or the following two options, please state where you think they could possibly win!

If they had two good drivers they might be able to... I think getting one of their cars ahead of the second of the McLarens and Renaults would be doable but I think they need retirements or grid demotions from the other two to make it happen. Of course with Takuma Sato in the team, they have half as many chances as they ought to have.

There's an outside chance, but both McLaren's will have to blow up. They could probably best the Renaults given a clever fuel strategy and a decent quali, but TBH I don't see it happening.

Fair enough. I agree really with what Dan said, Button would need taku to hold up a mcalren but still then, they would need another fsilure. I can quite see as well that in the title standings, Mclaren will win the WCC as they are quite more competative than renault! But hopefully Alonso will win the WDC!

Why don't they just use Taku as a wrecking ball - er, make him productive in this capacity - by qualifying him on zero fuel and then sending him into the back of KR/FA in the first corner? That would be a sensible use of his expertise and quite inline with BAR's team ethics.

Even on zero fuel I think he'd struggle to break the top ten.........

Maybe BAR do have real pace but I think Istanbul was a one off. Renault, McLaren and possibly Ferrari will be very competitive in the last races and if BAR continue their steps forward, I have every right to think they can win a race this year and in years to come.

The Honda engine (if it is reliable) should help BAR at Monza.

Ferrari are not going to do anything special,m now, i dont even know why they are trying. They have fallen further back still, in todays monza test, they were wel behind mclaren, renault, toyota!

Minus malaysia, the Honda has been superbly reliable and powerful!

Indeed. I am suprised they are not already exploiting their driver's greatest talent. They really should play to their strengths: expecting him to avoid mistakes for 70 laps is not fair on him.

Yet more evidence of the predicted incompetence of Gil de Ferran.

I think if the McLarens retire at the right tracks they certainly have a chance. And assuming no more annoying mistakes from JB!!!

i'd say only if kimi or alonso have failures. jpm and fisi have proved within jenson's reach on occasion.

Renault and McLaren are to strong for them to beat this year. If they started this year in the way they finnished last season, they could have developed the car more and been up with McLaren and Renault, as they have had to play catch up with development, I dont see them win, unless they have a very clever stratagy that out does McLaren and Renault.

Honda engine has not failed once yet this season, where as BMW, McLaren and Ferrari have all recorded engine failures.

BAR have a chance, they are right behind Renualt in terms of pace. I think if Kimi retired, you could probably count on Montoya making some sort of error along the line as well, BAR might have a chance. Really though the rest of the season is a McLaren - Renault War. If BAR can get in there with the two of them it would be brilliant from a championship point of view, (should help Kimi win ;) ).

Oil fires, not engine failures. The oil system is not classed as part of the engine because it can be changed and repaired without penalty.

It could be done, although it would be all down to Button, I think that with both Renaults and McLarens out of the equation, then he would have a great oppertunity to win. Won't happen this season though.

JS.
