Rossi: I Have What It Takes

Recommended Posts

"Im not saying he wont be quick though, just has A LOT to prove here."

I believe that to be a fair enough statement.

Indeed. He is an unknown in F1 terms and thus must prove himself.

Rossi in f1? what does he have? the potential for a lot of money! thats what.. imagine the sponshorship deals, imagine how popular the team will end up being.. ofcourse u'll end up with a Sh#tty race driver!

Rossi shoulld stay in moto gp, do what he is good at, f1 is nothing like moto gp (although i wish there were those models instead of race engineers next to the car :D ). I guess nothing else can be said!

Indeed, F1 is nothing like MotoGP, which will make Rossi's achievements in F1 all the more remarkable! :D

(GMM) Jenson Button has rubbished Valentino Rossi's chances of making a smooth transition from motorcycling to formula one.

The BAR driver said that while the 26-year-old in a Ferrari would be good PR, the MotoGP champion will struggle for 'years' to become fully fit.

''He won't have the neck muscles,'' Briton Button told the Telegraph, ''(and) you don't develop that ... overnight.

''He's a legend at what he does, but this is a different era to when John Surtees raced.

well he has atleast two more years before he comes into F1, that is if he comes, so it is not exactly "overnight" as suggested by Jense now is it ?

As long as Rossi isn't overhyped and in the media every second of F1, if he doesn't bring hoards of complaining motogp fans to F1 and if he doesn't beat my favourite drivers, then it's fine by me.

Unfortunatley, I don't see the first two parts of that happening...

Jenson is quite correct.

well, the first open wheel racing car he has driven has been a Ferrari F1 car, that's quite an achievement!  <_<

He was given a test with Ferrari. What does this prove? Nothing is the answer.

"What exactly has Rossi achieved in F1?"

absolutely nothing. I'm merely stating that Rossi will achieve alot in F1, hence making his achievements all the more remarkable. I'd have thought you would have understood that, seeing as how Rossi has done nothing in F1...yet.

Clearly he hasn't done anything yet and maybe he never will but I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes in the tests and maybe racing later on. He seems pretty dominant on 2 wheels. (although not as dominant as Lance Armstrong as no doubt will be brought up!)

I do not see a strong similarity between Rossi and Damon Hill.  Yes Damon started out on bikes but from roughly 1984-1990 Damon was racing single-seaters.  He of course was a Williams test driver in 1991 and then in 1992, whilst still a Williams test driver, Damon drove for the struggling Brabham F1 team before partnering Alain Prost at Williams in 1993 as a fulltime Grand Prix driver.  Rossi wants to go immediately from MotoGP to F1 with only very limited experience of single-seater racing.  Furthermore, Damon was 32 when he entered F1 and 36 when he became World Champion.  Rossi is significantly younger

by being pretty much the only person to ever do that, it proves that he is a overhyped slice of media pie for ferrari

It was interesting to hear what some of the ex F1 drivers had to say on the matter today in the ITV coverage.

Noone in the world can predict with certainty whther with more work he can or can not match current F1 drivers for pace. Why do people have to jump and criticize him for getting a test.

"It was interesting to hear what some of the ex F1 drivers had to say on the matter today in the ITV coverage"

what did they say?

"because he has got it on his name and not his forseen open wheel motorsport talent."

he got in because of his achivements in MotoGP, not his name. The only way to see how much potential he has is to see how he goes in testing, and from what I've seen, there is a massive potential.

yes, his name, Rossi, is associated with his achievements in motogp and not his achievements in open wheel car racing.

They ex-f1 drivers were just umming and ahhing and their basic conclusion was, "er... nah, it's just publicity"

I disagree, there is a strong difference between someone getting hype because of their achivements (Rossi) and someone getting hype because of their name (Ralf Schumacher)
