Rossi: I Have What It Takes

Recommended Posts

the team managers won't know what hit them if he buys Minardi! Goodbye Political Correctness!!!

I agree - the best thing for F1 would be for the Irishman to get back in as a Team owner. And Max Mosely thought that Stoddie was a handfull?!?!?!?!

"his name, Rossi, is associated with his achievements in motogp and not his achievements in open wheel car racing."

I disagree, there is a strong difference between someone getting hype because of their achivements (Rossi) and someone getting hype because of their name (Ralf Schumacher)

ok, yeah I agree, I should have said he's only getting the drive through his reputation in another very different form of motorsport. Anyway, fisi says he's too old, jenson says no, 3 ex f1 drivers all say no... doesn't look like the publicity material will have too many friends in the pit lane if he ever manages to gain himself a ferrari f1 seat on his motogp merits.

that's a fair enough statement.

Friends come and go, victory last forever. I know which one Rossi will choose should he come into F1.

from knowing pretty much zero about an F1 car, once a month isn't enough for Rossi. If Ferrari were serious, I'd test him more

it'll be something very similar to what JV and Williams did. Rossi can test on weekends which don't clash with MotoGP, and on their breaks. MotoGP tests nowhere near as much as F1. Once the MotoGP season finshes, he'll do the whole preseason pounding away at test tracks. They own their own tracks so time won't be a problem and Ferrari test basically all day every day.

I agree. Depending on what his existing ability is, and from what I understand he can lap within two seconds of Badoer, the pre-season should provide enough track time for him to get reasonably on-pace, i.e. within a second a lap of Badoer. He'll never get where Michael is (unless Michael continues to race and declines further) but he may be able to match Massa within half a second after a season of testing. I don't see him replacing Massa on merit when Kimi joins though. Massa is a bloody quick driver if a bit inconsistent. Do you?

I have read an interview to Marc Gene (who was in the track when Rossi was testing) in wich he said (in a very polite way of course) that Rossi

but er... Badoer is Sh#t...

And massa is not quick. There are quicker, more underrated drivers in the field (points to signature)

that's why they've invited him to test once a month next year!

Indeed. Ferrari are quite correct to take such precautions however, Rossi may require additional time and experience before he is fully adjusted to F1.

exactly my point. If he proves himself within his testing sessions, then they will be more convinced in taking the gamble with Vale then they are at the moment.

I'm not convinced by massa. Anyway, it's no good being quick and not consistant. Mark webber is quick in qualifying, but not in races and that's no good to anybody

I think Massa did a decent enough job in Spa barring his ill timed change to grooved tyres.

egos

I remember campaigning vehemently on some forum for not showing post counts, as it lead to people spamming. seems to work fine here though..

I am surprised ecap didnt get the nod, but I guess you did not have 'experience'.
