Rossi: I Have What It Takes

Recommended Posts

PS

I would sooner Narain Karthikeyan and Takuma Sato be in F1 than Rossi. At least they have worked their way "up the ladder" (well, a bit in karty's respect), not just magically appeared at the top.

this is so Sh#t, rossi/kimi

Kimi has dedicated his life to being in F1 basically

Rossi has moto GP, and you don't see F1 drivers running off to motorbikes just because "they're good in F1"

This is stupid, it's taking oppertunities away from those who deserve it and handing them onto silver spoons to those who may have done well in another motorsport but NOT THE RIGHT ONE

christ, what will we get next?  The 6 times world speadboat champion competing for a McLaren drive??

ROSSI STAY OUT OF F1.

You make a good point. Rossi should really have to progress through the junior series like everyone else.

i agree with KS, shes completely right on all accounts. Even if he won races i wouldnt give a ****, hes taking the seat from someone probably more deserving and who have worked their a## off to be in f1!

TM I think will do better if he was in a better car than a jordan but Nk should get out totally.

I also think that Monterio is better than Karthikeyan but that is not a great compliment!

not really. if he shows he is fast there is no reason for him to go through the junior series. remember when KR came into F1, there was a lot of talk about him being too inexperienced to get an F1 license etc, all that evaporated pretty quickly. on the other hand if he jumps straight into F1 he has an obligation to atleast be competitive with mid level drivers to justify his entry into the sport.

exactly. Kimi had only driven in 21 races before his debut with Sauber, now look at him. Give Rossi the chance and he WILL shine!

Although Rossi is clearly a fantastic rider on anything with two wheels (infact I would go as far as to say he is in a class of his own) BUT racing a formula 1 is an entirely different ball game! and I dont mean going around a track quickly in testing, I mean racing!

Im not saying he wont be quick though, just has A LOT to prove here.

First time FA drove the Minardi he was a whole second faster than the official drivers

VERY True!

at least kimi went in a decent car in his debut season, a sauber is not a bad place to be, especially back then when kimi and nick were driving together. However, just jumping straight into a good car (better than sauber), with hardly ANY prior knowledge of F1 racing (ie, yet to actually race in an junior series like F3, GP2, formula renault etc, let alone an F1 race) is just not done on the pure fact you have a famous surname. If you ask me, this is all publicity for Ferrari.

Wow... kimi was the champion in his debut and second (and last) full formula renault seasons... I can understand why he was appealing to Mr Sauber! You would have thought McLaren may have had more sense when signing kimi, ie, to sign nick like they were supposed to instead.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Rossi will be a big success in F1. Not sure if he'll be a World Champ or anything, but I think he won't do as bad as many believe and will win a few GP's. He's only in his mid-20's and has time and age on his side. I wouldn't discard him.

Much like Damon Hill, you can switch from two to four wheels successfully, but only if you're in a dominant car. Otherwise, you'll just be another also-ran at the back of the field, and no-one will take you seriously....... which is a hell of a risk for a 6 times world champion to take.

If the Scuderia are serious about putting an Italian driver in a Ferrari, then there is a far more qualified fellow on the grid by the name of Fisichella (some of you may have heard of him). But, given the infamous reluctance of the Italian team to put an Italian driver in one of their cars (Alesi was as close as they've gotten recently), I think it is hardly likely that Rossi is anything more than a publicity stunt (much like the rumored KR defection), all of which is designed to draw attention away from what has proven to be a miserable and embarrassing F1 season and generate what little positive press they can.

I do not see a strong similarity between Rossi and Damon Hill. Yes Damon started out on bikes but from roughly 1984-1990 Damon was racing single-seaters. He of course was a Williams test driver in 1991 and then in 1992, whilst still a Williams test driver, Damon drove for the struggling Brabham F1 team before partnering Alain Prost at Williams in 1993 as a fulltime Grand Prix driver. Rossi wants to go immediately from MotoGP to F1 with only very limited experience of single-seater racing. Furthermore, Damon was 32 when he entered F1 and 36 when he became World Champion. Rossi is significantly younger

in fact ferrari have been reluctant to put an italian driver in a ferrari which explains why fisi has never had a chance. taking rossi would represent a big change in their recent policies.

he does and he will obviously have to prove himself worthy before ferrari take him.

good point, that season sauber had their best season ever ( I think). If KR had made his debut with minardi he might not have landed a top drive that quickly, though he was destined to move up.

btw Fisichella is better than trulli. This season is not a correct representation of where he stands.
