oh yeah, and he had the most successful F3000 career of any driver ever

old story...at least to me. so he really hasn't lived up to my expectations this year (though he looked good in the first trainings of the season). maybe he just hasn't spent enough time in the car.

old story yeah, but no one on this forum believes me when I say liuzzi has great potential!!! He's looked really good in testing. The races which he competed in were hardly the easiest; sepang, monaco, bahrain (and another one). He really hasn't had enough time driving the car under race conditions and I think it would be the best thing for him if BMW snapped him up and he sodded red bull, after they have promised him so many times that he'd be racing after this grand prix, sorry, next grand prix, etc etc, I'd be very annoyed if I were him!!

Narain Karthikeyan has great potential too! When you get to F1 you have to deliver though...

Justin Wilson was brilliant in the lower formulae.

But he flopped in F1.

The thing is, with some drivers - they work really hard to get into F1, get the results, the championships etc. But when they get to F1 they just expect it to happen. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. You don't just get in the car and expect to win.

You thought getting to F1 was hard - you try driving a Minardi around for a year (or two) at the back of field, getting lapped, and trying to make an impression. Its tough work, and character building stuff. It hardens you up. Anyone who can't do handle the pressure is quickly out.

I'm not saying Luizzi is soft - theres a lot of pressure on the young lad to perform, especially with this "rotatng seats" business which I think pesonally sucks. Luizzi has been under the pump all year since Klein started in Australia. And his stock has been damaged somewhat as a result when he "failed" to deliver when he was given the oppurtunity at Imola and the races that followed.

I'm not a Luizzi fan - I've become more of a Klein fan of recent late, but the bloke obviously has potential, but I think the circumstances at Red Bull - rotating seats policy - has contrived against him.

Yeah, Results in lower classes are good too see, and help you get a shot at F1, but you gotta show you can do just as good in an F1 car, and Liuzzi hasn't shown that at all....

Indeed, Sato had a very impressive record in F3...

I agree that F3000 success doesn't account for all that much when you get to F1.

Sato was untouchable before he got to F1.

And besides, from what ive seen Klien is a better driver than the pretty boy.

liuzzi got a whole load of hype in autosport and f1 racing after he won the f3000 title, but surely next year red bull will be dc & klien, with speed as friday man? poor liuzzi could end up at minardi!

indeed! Liuzzi may have done well in F3000, but Magnussen and Sato were major successes in British F3 (the pinnacle of F3 series in the world) yet both struggled in F1. As for Justin Wilson, he wasn't given a fair shot I feel. He did well at Minardi but didn't have enough time to get adjusted at Jag. I feel he would have beaten Webber in 2003 had they retained him, just as he beat him in F3000 in 2001, in the second best car when Webber had the best.

Justin has been impressive in CCWS in a terrible car this season...

In my opinion Liuzzi isnt that brilliant I rate potential on how good they drive not statistics (for example Raikonnen he was an unknown talent from formula 3 then once he tested for Sauber people couldnt believe his pace and it takes alot to impress Peter Sauber and Ron Dennis). And if he was so good why didnt he score more than a point (only got the point because of BAR and Toyota disqualification i think) plus he span out in Spain which is a test circuit so he should of known that track more in an F1 car than any other track. He has not inpressed me at all and I rate Klien alot higher than Liuzzi. Klien is consistant Liuzzi is very irratic. He resembles a Massa in my opinion. But once he gets a full time drive and actually starts to thrash Coultard my impression of him will never change.

Good points.

I have been mightily unimpressed with Liuzzi in 2005, perhaps he will improve in the future but he has been undeniably poor in the races he has contested this year.
