Ron Starts The Blame Game

Montoya wasn't the one fighting for that title, Kimi was, so why not add him into that list. KIMI and MCLAREN lost the title, no-one else...

I think it's also stupid to call Kimi the Iceman, if anything Mika deserved that title, but people seem to believe as RD also does that Kimi is another driver in Mikas class just because he is the same nationality. That would be like saying Jensen Button is as good as Damon Hill.

I totally agree...Mika Hakkinen is the true Iceman ! He never made mistakes when the pressure was on....

he made alot of his mistakes when the pressure was off, Imola '99 and Monza '99 two examples.

Not even Senna...

Here its a joke...

Someday Shumacher dies and go to heaven, he was so good to the human kind that God by himself receives him and give a BIG house with 20 sport cars at the door, the best dish tv, swimming pool, 20 rooms, etc and a ferrari flag in the top, he says thanks and start to enjoy all the stuff, but then in a walk, he saw a house 30 times bigger than his, with 100 cars (all kind), a lagoon as a swimming pool, the best view to heaven and a really big and great Ayrton Senna Flag...

He goes to god to ask the reason he gave to Senna a better house and he replyied...

Its not Senna

Yeah!

Even Our very own TF1 Senna will agree... THERE WILL ONLY EVER BE ONE SENNA!

What do you mean even, I

I meant "Even" by the fact that your name is Senna, but you will still agree ;)

Of course, that would follow logically

That brought a smile to my face Ecapdeville. Perhaps Senna is racing the likes of Gilles Villeneuve, Graham Hill, Fangio and Clark up in the heavens

Of course, that would follow logically…but by saying “even”, it implies that it is in some way strange that I would agree with your statement but it is obvious that I would agree since I am a huge Senna fan and you praised Senna.

No worries Sen... Just a mis-understanding.

@Fed Up... Nope, Senna was better (Unless maybe you saw Fangio drive in person?)

Interestingly I saw an interview in the early 90's where Fangio said Senna is the best driver he had ever seen.

I also witnessed Senna's Sublime skill first hand:

I was at the SA gp in 1993 where Shumacher tried to get clever with Senna, the two hit Shumacher had to retire, then threw a temper tantrum. It was declared to be a racing incident. Senna went on to finish 2nd in the wet using dry tyres!

I saw Fangio recently on the 50 years of F1 on-board camera DVD. His record in F1 is unparalleled: 51 GPs, 29 poles, 23 fastest laps, 24 wins, 245 points. However, we must remember the time in which he raced. F1 is much more technically and physically demanding now. The standard is much higher than in the 1950s. It must be said, the great Argentinean looked podgy.

Senna would win.

I agree that Senna would win, because of his physical fitness allied to his skill as a driver. Juan Manuel was a little overweight, but skill was of greater importance than fitness in the 50s.

Senna would get thrashed in a 1950s era car. Fangio would get thrashed in a late 80s - early 90s car. MS would beat Senna in his era. The comparisons are pointless, different kinds of people win in different eras.

Racing was much more dangerous when Fangio raced compared to Senna. I know it might sound ironic considering Ayrton died racing in F1, however the mortality rate in Fangio's era was highly significant than the rate in Senna's era. In fact, the last driver to die before Roland and Ayrton was Riccardo Palletti in 1982, the same year which saw Gilles Villeneuve lose his life.

I'm not going to go into a debate as to who was better because there are too many extraneous variables which effected each driver and the era that they were in for there to be sufficient comparison. All that can be said is that all were, and still are giants of the sport, and a race between them would have been The Race of a Lifetime!

But Senna would thrash Fangio in a modern 2000's car!!!

Only because it's closer to what he would be accustomed to. Same could be said vice versa with 1950's cars.
