Recommended Posts

Kenneye, RBR (sugar free) have committed to Cosworth even beyond 2006, so there is no question of Sato buying a drive there.

as for Honda, great news.

I shall indeed! If ever you require legal aid in the coming future be sure to get in contact with me. I also have every intention to go into politics by the time i'm 40. Though I do think its long overdue that they put the great back into great britain

indeed! My current political view is that the UK needs to pull out of Iraq, the EU and just 100% focus on the counry itself, all the money to be spent on our country alone and for a new governement to be elected! I think we need to focus on the job that desperately needs doing here before we go help everyone else!

But being part of EU has its benefits. I don't want Europe to turn into 1 big state - I'm proud to be british, the french are a load of w#nkers and I don't want anything to do with them - but Britain will be less better off if it tries to look after itself with no help at all!

Indeed! I think we need to, I also think we need to have at least some manufacturing in this country, and considering were an oil producing nation, why the hell ae our petrol prices some of the most expensive in the world? I think this country needs to become selfish for a while and just concentrate on number 1!

We don't have a manufacturing base of any size because of the high wage costs compared to (currently) Eastern countries.

Our fuel is taxed very heavily - approx 85% of the pump price is tax.

Indeed. The reason we dont manufacture much anymore is for two reasons, land to build the factories and operate is far too expensive, and labour is cheaper in the far east and eastern european countries!

Our fuel is incredibly expensive, too expensive!

'Honda aiming high'

Honda already have their sights set on claiming the F1 Constructors' World Championship after announcing a buy-out of the BAR team.

Japanese car manufacturer Honda are to become the sole owners of BAR next season after majority shareholders and founders British American Tobacco (BAT) agreed to the sale of their 55% stake in the British-based outfit.

Honda, who have been BAR's engine partner for the past six seasons, already have an existing 45% stake in the team they purchased in January.

The buy-out, to be completed by the end of this year, will make Honda 100% shareholders.

The announcement precedes the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka this weekend where BAR drivers Jenson Button and Takumo Sato will be in action. The race will also be Honda's 100th grand prix with the team.

Hiroshi Oshima, operating officer of corporate communications and motor sports at Honda, said: "From next season, we will be even more energetic in our Formula One activities, working hard as a team in order to improve our technology, develop our young engineers and achieve our goal of winning the World Championship."

"After discussing Honda's future Formula One participation, we have decided that Honda should own 100% of the team."

"We greatly appreciate the partnership of BAT, which has managed the team with us until now, and we wish BAT the best of luck in its future endeavours."

Last month Button was confirmed as a BAR driver for the 2006 campaign after successfully negotiating his way out of a contract with Williams.

He will be joined in the line-up by Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, who makes the switch from Ferrari.

At the time, Button said: "I'm obviously delighted to confirm I will be staying with BAR-Honda for the next few years."

"Since I joined the team in 2003, we've shared some important moments in my career and the team's history."

"There are many more goals for us to achieve together - not least of all winning the World Championship. I want to be at BAR-Honda to see that happen - and I believe that it will happen."

BAR were founded by BAT in 1997 when they bought Tyrrell, and the team's best finish to date was second place in the 2004 Constructors' Championship behind Ferrari.

The team will continue to be run from their current base in Brackley, Northamptonshire, and will work with Honda Racing who operate from Berkshire.

BAT intend to remain as the title sponsor of the team through their brand Lucky Strike for 2006 but will honour their long-standing commitment to exit Formula One sponsorship at the end of the year.

Honda are not the first manufacturer to buy out a team this year.

In June, BMW announced their takeover of Sauber, claiming a wholly-owned team is their only chance at World Championship glory.

Meh, one more reason why I'm glad to be in America. I'm glad Honda bought BAR. Also, I freakin hate my school, they purposely set it up to where we still cant see chicks.
